This could be any girl. Imagine being a heroine of a love story. Hatori also believed that one day she would get married to her childhood friend, Rita.

But that's not how the world works! This is a hilarious comedy that honestly paints a painful unrequited love story of this young girl!

You can't have bias about who will end up with Hatori(the main girl). If you just go with the flow you will understand the situation. It's good that this manga isn't typical and cliche. I've read about 100 shoujo and this is one of five that i will rate it 10/10.

I don't know whats all the hate. I mean she's being realistic and. Not boring like Kimi no Todoke or something of a sort. It must've been because ppl ALL ROOTING FOR THE SECOND MALE LEAD and ended up disappointed. I think the second male lead is so dislikable from the start so I always stick to Rita (right decision). Other than that, the setting and storyline are just EXCELLENT.

for the one who's Team Hiromitsu - I think the author felt bad for killing such an unexpectedly popular character so she's trying to find a new love for him or something.

I don't get why people hate the protagonist so much. She's the most realistic girl I've seen in a shoujo manga. She's truly an average girl. Average girls are not mary sue's like adachi and every other shoujo heroine. There's a superiority complex in all of us, we think we deserve better than others, we get jealous, we hate, we question ourselves. So yes I really like the authors for having he guts to make a character who isn't kind and loving and sweet as a main character. Only thing I despise about the girl is her lack of commitment, going back and forth between guys tend to get annoying.

I started reading it because it has two crossovers with Hirunaka no Ryuusei, and I absolutely adore HnR. At first, I just kept hoping it would get better, but it never really did.

I'd like that Hatori has bad points more if she had any good points to balance them out. She doesn't, really. I'd enjoy watching her struggle if she learned anything from it, but she doesn't. All she does is think about Rita, or think about trying not to think about Rita. He's her entire world, and it's annoying at best, but just as often it's rather disturbing.

Rita started off okay, but once he started dating Adachi, Hatori starting pushing him, and he turns out to be wishy-washy and spineless, the kind of guy who hurts people because he can't make a decision.

A lot of people seem to dislike Adachi, probably because she's treated like a personification of the Perfect Shoujo Heroine trope. I haven't read to the end yet, so I don't know what happens to her, but I feel like Hatori and Rita are kind of ruining her. Adachi has dreams of her own, beyond being with Rita, and they're just dying.

Nakajima's great, though. If there were a manga with Nakajima as the heroine, I would read it so hard. And Hiromitu's all right.

I'll probably keep reading to the end, simply because I've gotten as far as I have, but at this point it feels like I'm just trying to beat it. I already know how it ends, having knowingly read a spoiler in another comment. I think knowing just keeps me from getting my hopes up.

Also, a note for those wanting to read the crossovers... They were both written after Heroine Shikkaku finished, so yes, they do contain a certain spoiler. Not that it's a surprising one, though.

I fell in love with the storyline before the girl went all obsessive over the guy despite having a cool guy nearby. She was funny, but eventually she turned too desperate...

And why would she end up with Rita ??? ? That's so stupid. Rita seemed genuinely in love with Adachi up to a certain point of the manga. I understand that Rita's not perfect and stuff, but still..... I just UGH.

Not like the manga was anything to write home about. I was already not liking the manga and decided to check out the ending to see if it was worth the trouble.

Serious end of manga spoiler

Kousuke cries. She ends up with Rita.

I don't like the heroine, Adachi, or Rita.

Hatori is an airheaded girl who thinks about nothing but guys. She's really wishy-washy and goes back and forth in between guys. I also dislike how she essentially forces her feelings on another person. If I were Rita, I'd think she was obsessed and crazy.

Adachi's the shoujo heroine cliche. She may be a caricature, but still annoying.

Rita's kinda like Hatori. Can't make up his freaken' mind. At first, I don't blame him for some things that "led her on." Rita and Hatori are still friends after all, and even if the other party likes you, as a friend, there are some things you just do. But some of the things he does is beyond the bounds of friendship and borders on plain possessive.

First it seemed refreshing with how it seems like Hatori being frank and noticing shoujo manga cliches. She's also kinda mean sometimes (which is okay in my book). But unfortunately, everything eventually fell right into shoujo cliches, even the ending.

i was atracted to the originality and freshness of this manga as it was taking a slightly different path comparing to other really cliche shoujo mangas bu t it all came crashing down in the end.I was thinking that maybe the main character could be more interesting than those really pure dumb airheaded main characters but iwas wrong the only differenc was she was a dumb airheaded bitch soo again another failure giving similar shoujo mangas a bad name ;-) if somebody doesnt agree with me i dare them to prove that this isnt rubbish. good day bigrazz

When I first picked this up I could tell the story could be different. The story constantly made me go through moral dilemma, contemplating I should really hate or empathize with the heroine. It really comes in a unique story, I'll give it that. But the way it was presented was contrived. All I'm could feel on every page was the manga begging to be acknowledged as 'unique' 'different' 'refreshing'. And the manga is, but I feel this is a very poor method of storytelling. It was funny, and had some not typically eye catching but stylish art. Again, some interesting situations albeit sometimes annoying to my biased reader heart.

I have seriously high expectations on this manga since it was love at first chapter with Momoko-sensei's other work Hirunaka no Ryuusei so I was hoping this one would be awesome. But noooooooooo. This one was soooo far from HnR sad I was really disappointed. i've only read till chapter 9 but so far i'm not really liking it T^T I want to like it but the plot, the characters, they aren't really likable! AND THE MANGAKA SAID AT THE BEGINNING THAT THE CHARACTER WOULD BE RELATABLE, BUT REALLY, HATORI IS NOT RELATABLE. GOD I DIDN'T LIKE HER FROM THE VERY FIRST CHAPTER T^T She was such a bi*ch. sad The art though is pretty good for me and the comedic faces were hilarious too but it's not enough! *sigh* still I'm not giving up yet. I'm gunna finish it! (i hope i do lool) then come back and make a full review haha

This manga started as a relly well done satire of the most typical shojo manga but writen from the point of the "bad guy", the evil rival. This was funny as hell and you really wanted rita to never return her feelings.

BUT THEN the mangaka had no more ideas left and swiched from satire to the real stuff. Everything seems just annoying now and after a lot of people spoiled the end, I don't even know, if I want to read the rest of it.

Repeat after me...
Hatori is not a relatable character.
Hatori is not a relatable character.
Hatori is not a relatable character.

If you think otherwise, dont tell me you also spent/spend your high school chasing after one guy? SRSLY? RLYconfused?

Giving this manga a 7 rating becoz of Nakajima and its pop references.
