Scene: The School Rooftop The hero (me, Junpei Manaka!) sneaks up to the roof to see the sunset. When he opens the door, he startles a mysterious beauty. She panics and runs away, but not before Junpei has caught sight of her adorable strawberry print panties...in EXTREME close-up. With that vision forever burned into his memory, Junpei embarks on a quest to find the girl, and the panties, of his dreams!

Pros: The art was nice. The constant twists and turns keep you wanting to read more.
Cons: OK, here is why the ending sucks. It has nothing to do with which girl you personally like the best, or which you think is the best for the lead character. The ending sucks because it means that he put Toujou (and himself) through the wringer for four years for absolutely nothing. It says everything that they only way the author could think of to keep people from dying from pity for Toujou was to make her an extreme, world-class success in her career. Otherwise, she'd just have been this shy girl who fell for an idiot, then went on to a mundane life emotionally damaged.
Also, there was no way this needed to be as long as it did. How many times to we really need to see character X trip and land on character Y, and then have character Z appear and jump to the wrong conclusion? Apparently, this author thinks 50+.
Ultimately, there is a big difference between something that uses tricks to make you want to keep reading and something which is actually enriching and thought-provoking.
Great manga with lots of emotions
First time I read this manga i was surprised at the beginning. It was awkward but intriguing. After reading on this became a highly addictive manga. The plot had a great outcome of events. The characters are great characters you really can feel attached to. When a character feels heart broken or cry you will truly feel sad ( i admit to tearing up at times yes im a wuss). This is one of the mangas that i actually thought about throughout my day. In my head it was like who will he choose? I kept thinking about it alot because i felt for the the characters. But since the connection with the characters are very strong you may be sad if your favorite is not chosen at the end. But, because its hard to please fans of all the different choices, the author did a great job trying to make everyone happy. I loved all of them and only wished for multiple endings for each different girl but this ending is still great.
The art in this manga is perfect. Girls are attractive even when their is no ecchi. The ecchi in this manga is at an appropriate level. It is used in a romantic and loving way, not the absurd "everytime i move i jiggle" type of ecchi. It is used at the right time just like relationships have.
I simply love this manga to death. The emotions you get are so strong, anger, excitement, love, sadness, pity, joy, etc. It is just an amazing read for every romantic reader. This author is amazing and this manga is one of my all time favorites. It it a great transitional manga if you just started reading romantic ecchi manga after reading all those action ninja, pirate, shinigami, etc manga.
All in all a truly magnificent read and if your reading these comments just read the manga and Im sure you'll love it.

Leaves a scar in my memory.
it's been 6 or 7 years since i finished reading this manga.
several years ago when i first finished it... i didn't feel this bad... but now recently when i re-read it again....I feel so devastated after reading those last chapters. i didn't cry, but i couldn't sleep well because of it. i feel so depressed. i feel so f***ed up.
it's beautiful but painful to remember. it's like planting a lovely flower but also damaging the soil at the same time. it leaves a scar in my memory.
my logic tells me that i have to forget it...it's only a fiction...it's not real, dude.. but my imagination makes the whole stories and characters feel so real. (i'm an artist, so i tend to use imagination rather than logic LOL) and so i'm trapped between reality and fictional world.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
my chest hurt when i saw the chapter when aya confess her feeling to junpei from behind the door and then it revealed that junpei and aya have the same numbers from the fortune-teller at the school fest. but sadly, none of them know it.
and also the scene in the snow when junpei finally realized that he and aya actually love each other.
i feel so devastated when i saw aya cries after that. like i said before, i was trapped between reality and fictional world. and i know i couldn't do anything to help her. :(
and i really feel sorry for satsuki too...
well, this is an almost perfect manga. i give it 9.0 the art is nice, and the story makes me feel so connected with the characters. i grew up with this manga, so it feels like the story is part of my memories. it's beautiful, but beware...it can be heart stabbing for some people... even for action comic lover like me.
it'd be even more awesome if the mangaka makes alternative endings for each girls. then all the brokenhearted readers can feel a lot better.
i hope this post doesn't make me look like a melancholic person LOL...
i heard this manga has been reprinted this year in japan with new cover arts.

Great, Harem ever
I think this the best Harem I ever read. The plot is really good and I can see how the characters develop through out the story. I agree that there are some unnecessary fan service. But hey, who does it serve? Anyway, overall I think it is great
great cept for the ending
the ending just annoyed me, if the ending was different, i think it could've even better
this is so good an touching that i cry almost all over the last book because it was kind of sad but went i finished it i cry of happyness because it was to great to be trust the wending was just like i wanted it to be.
if i could reborn i wish i could be jumpei manaka or tsukasa nishino
just sugoi! sugoi!
It's true that the story goes long, but school is ending so i think the story is also... With a small one you hardly enjoy the characters or get used to them... Its true that manaka indecision is taking long and i would like to see him realy dating nishino (but i dont even know who is he going to choose). The plot is funny, so chapters are just great but others just suck as fillers... The music and sound are just nice or just above average. The graphics are very enjoyable and i couldn ask for better, just maybe all in color or something like that :D The main characters and the main plot, i just fall in love for it, just sugoi! sugoi! Very rich and very enjoyable, but cant say much as i would like without spoiling... You Gotta read it!
This is of course more a comment then a review
unforgetable shounen manga
Since i first finished reading ichigo 100% i began to read a lot more shonen romance manga. However among them only a few that can bring me such a warm and connected feeling with the charracter inside the manga. I am very love the way that every charracter has a dream which drive them to reach their future. Nevertheless the ending was perfect, if you can think clearly its absolutely logical why the ending is like that.
Strawberries, ponnies and chasing dreams
I can't say I read much shounen romance up to this point but starting this series I kinda knew what to expect. Cliched plot, lots of ecchi scenes, somewhat annoying main character. So from the very beginning I would not be disappointed by that stuff. General things out of the way first: art was ok nothing else, cliched plot, comedy wasn't there for me, found only a couple of scenes to make me laugh, drama moments are rare and quickly resolved and make little impact to the story.
Now, the main premise of any harem manga is, of course, having bunch of people falling in love with one person who then gets to decide his/her preference. All this is set up so the reader would usually take a pick of the favorite character and rooting for him/her throughout the series. Simplistic and repetitive concept but strangely efficient when coupled with decent writing. I finished this series in 4 days and still felt it outdrawn at the times when plot made no progress. Some chapters had no purpose there then being a filler. With all these flaws I could still not help it but attach myself to this manga till it's very end.
The main character, as I said before, proved to be mildly annoying. Many readers were irked by his indecisiveness. Stupid indecisive prick, is what I fell he is at times but still has some good sides to him and I could not make myself to actually hate him. Now on to the female characters, the harem part. I will put this in a spoiler.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Let's start with Aya. I don't like her, plain and simply. She falls for the mc from the very beginning but never acts upon it until the very end. Yes, Manaka helped her out of her shell, made her fell more confidence about her writing and shared his dream that she accepted as her own. And that's it. Their exchange is limited to that. All this receives no further development other than Aya finally realizing she has her own path in life to follow. She felt kinda pathetic.
I have few things to say about Satsuki. When she appeared at first I liked her character. She was very outgoing, aggressive even and her relationship with Manaka builds over time with them having similar tastes. But then, a disaster. She uses only her body to seduce him. Her aggression spills over and she strips naked in front of him, forces herself on to him, even tries to rape him couple of times. So Satsuki surfaces as a one trick pony she is and builds my dislike towards her. Mangaka even tried to drop her from the race two time always bringing her back like she couldn't figure out what else to do with her afterwards.
Now the main course, Tsukasa. For me the most enjoyable character of the entire series. She's not too passive and not too aggressive and falls down the middle of the previous two. She is nice but not lenient like Aya, has backbone and tends to speak her mind but is not overly obtrusive like Satsuki. With Manaka Tsukasa is both kind and harsh at times but always showing her love and loyalty. At one point she dumps him but soon comes back and is ready to wait for him to make up his mind. Not that Manaka did anything to deserve this but whatever.
All this being said, the ending didn't came as much of a shock really. I read other people comment's and was quite surprised to see many readers not expecting it. I pretty much dropped Aya as a likely candidate to end up with mc early in the series. Doubt about this prediction did surface in the last couple of volumes but throughout the series I gave more chances to Yui than Aya. As I mentioned before, her and Manaka's relationship receives no development. They like each other from the start but neither does anything about it. You need more than initial liking for relationship to works. Many people think that they were fated to be together but that is stupid. I am honestly glad that fated couple/number thing at the festival didn't get further advancement. That would be moronic. Opposite to this you have Tsukasa who took more active role. She didn't seek to get close to Manaka by following him to the same school. She took her time with him, going slowly and building up and coming out on top by showing great character development. Even her ecchi scenes served to a purpose of advancing their relationship, unlike the others'. Had Manaka ended up with some other girl all that build up would be in vain. The ending itself was classical "x years later" type. It has a small degree of openness to it. Manaka is still on his way of becoming a successful movie director and his relationship whit Tsukasa starts over with their future relying solely upon them. I tend to like it.
So overall, it was an enjoyable read. The series got me going but it was in no way that good for me wanting to read it again sometimes.

Didn't really expect the ending
I have to admit, that i didn't see the ending will be like that but this manga give me a thing that i shouldn't decide things only from the beginning
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
i personally like Aya with Manaka, since i think they have the same "aura" and i really like the way they "wishy washy thing", their undecided habit, and a lot of thing about Aya and Manaka
because i've read some spoiler, i can't really bring myself to read this manga from vol1 to 19, but i skip trough the end, just because my curiosity, and i don't think i'm gonna finish this manga. it really hard you know, when you wish about something, but it didn't happen (well, the world just happen to be like that)
but for those who want to read a good comedy/romance manga, i guarantee that you will be satisfied with this manga, JUST DON'T READ THE SPOILER YET, UNLESS YOU WANT BECOME LIKE ME, Unsatisfied, Uncomplete Read
