Description
Tsubaki is a girl who loves making her younger sister's hair pretty every morning, but she doesn't think that kind of style suits herself! The day of her High School Beginning Ceremony, after she failed in being the top student (who usually makes the ceremony speech), she finds herself sitting next to the actual top student of the first years, the worst rude guy ever, Kyouta. She ends up cutting his hair on purpose because of the bad things he says to her. Kyouta demands that Tsubaki pay him back with her body, but Tsubaki fixes his hair instead--making it even shorter! After that, Kyouta unexpectedly kisses Tsubaki and swears that he'll make her his woman.

This manga is no different from your typical dime a dozen shojo stories. After multiple volumes of reading, the plot still had very little real passion/development. It's one draw-in is that the male lead is drawn in an exceptionally handsome way. However, the more you read, the more you discover the male lead also has NO personality. This "may" be addicting to girls who prioritize a very sexy male lead, and don't mind a tiresomely cliche school-girl story line.
It was not my cup of tea.

Pretty decent, considering it's shoujo

Alright, so, there's basically one thing you have to consider when you read shoujo: Maybe one out of a hundred mangas will have an actual plot, with developed characters, imperfect heros, and strong heroines.
... and this wasn't one of them. That being said, this wasn't that bad. I remember trying to pick this up a while ago, but couldn't bring myself to read past the first few chapters. The guy, Kyouta, was just so dang awful. I couldn't stand how he kept on manipulating the girl, Tsubaki, and being a general vicious jerk. However, I kept on reading this time through. I have to say, it gets a lot better. Tsubaki is pretty annoying, jealous, fickle, and insecure, like most shoujo heroines out there. But she's not bad. So far, anyways, she's sticking up for the guy she likes, and she actually changes herself for her goals. Kyouta is growing on me, too. His jerkiness is much more toned down.

The plot is non-existant- the usual first half dedicated to them trying to get together, then a few dates, and then in comes some conflict that tests their relationship -seen it everywhere. But there were some parts that made me laugh, some parts that made me go 'aw', and some parts I skipped completely 'cause they were annoying. Lately, I like the Tsubaki/Kyouta couple -they're cute. And Tsubaki is getting stronger. Although she can be unsure (a loooot), in the end, she always pulls through. She's very determined, and won't give up. It's sort of refreshing. It's nice that the characters are changing, at least a bit.
All in all, this is a pretty good manga if you're bored, or if you're looking for something to fill your time. Not bad, not good, but decent. It has its moments, both great, and utterly terrible. Oh, but warning: it's basically comprised completely of shoujo cliches. If you're not into that, AVOID.

I think this is honestly a sweet shoujo. but from what I've noticed, you wouldn't think that unless you've been through the same situation. the manga is about a girl with insecurities while dating a boy that just seems too perfect to be real. I find that it is endearing in its own ways, but that is because I could relate to her back in my teen years. tbh I don't see a problem with Hibino. a lot of hopeless romantics at her age would react the same way through their awkward years. I can vouch because I did, and so did many of my friends.

I found the beginning a bit hard to get through though, but after I think maybe volume 6 or 7... whenever their relationship became solid, I found it much more endearing. people give hibino so much shit, but if you think about it, she is a shy unconfident girl. she isn't necessarily weak because if that's what you call weak, then 60% of the female population is weak. especially during their awkward teen years.

I don't recommend this to anyone to anyone who hates the essence of shoujo (insecure heroines, popular male leads, cliches).

You know, from the male perspective, if I treated my girlfriend like the guy treats his on occasion, I would expect to be dumped on the spot. So, -2 points for unrealistic relationship dynamics. Beyond that though, I actually rather like it, despite being a serious critic of both shoujo and smut. So... 7/10.

I was skeptical about reading this at first because of the author's previous work but I find that this is becoming one of my favorites out of most of the shojos I've read. Tsubaki is a little dense but she isn't exactly stupid especially since she doesn't give in to the guy at first. Kyouta is mean at first but changes into a really sweet guy. Also unlike the author's other mangas the characters aren't having sex 24/7 (hopefully it stays this way). I like the fact that she wanted to remain "pure" and the fact that Kyouta is willing to wait for her. I'm surprised it's been over 50 chapters and still not much of "that" has happened. Of course she will give in eventually because it is smut but allowing the story to play out this way helps us understand how much the characters grow and develop. I am looking forward to the next updates smile

I've been reading this for a while now, only to have it recently devolve into a manga about sex. The girl has actual ideals at the beginning; only to totally let them go a bit over 50 chapters in. Way to stand for what you believe in. This is one I'm deleting before finishing, waste of time. I don't understand why 50% of the shoujo manga I stop reading devolve into sex; while only about 5% of the shounen manga do. Maybe it's just that the shounen manga is more up front about what the manga is going to be about. I'm giving this a 4 because I liked the first 50 or so chapters.

Please, please, please save yourself the trouble of reading this horribly cliched manga. It's that overused story of ugly unpopular girl falls in love with hot popular guy and then becomes pretty, and it's told with an extremely annoying main character. At first, I liked her okay because she stood up for herself against this guy who's being rude to her and she stayed true to her image, despite being made fun of. But I should not have been so quick to judge her. Turns out that she's the type of character who blushes at everything, always assumes EVERYTHING is her fault, and cries a lot. Oh, and she constantly needs other people to save her. By the time I was halfway through the manga, I was seriously pitying her boyfriend for being stuck with her. Oh, and all the events are so predictable. It's like "Popular guy's fan group beats up his unpopular girlfriend? What a surprise!" and "Unpopular girl thinks popular guy hates her, but it turns out he's just afraid of letting her in too close because of his turbulent childhood? Wow, who'd have thunk it!" I understand all mangas have some cliches, (well, except maybe Kuroshitsuji) but when a manga is made up of nothing but cliches, it's just not worth reading. PLEASE, do not waste any more time on this manga than you already have.

At first, I liked it, it had cute art and the first chapter took me in. Then the later chapters...ehh. It was horribly CLICHED. It was easy to figure out what happens. And the main character...seriously, she gets SO annoying. =/ It's weird and even slightly disgusts me how she falls in love so quickly without becoming friends and not much development.

If you're into shoujo mangas and just want to read some romantic scenes that's slightly risky and you don't really care about the plot, then this one is for you.

This is not okay :/ It's just really cheesy.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
She falls in love with him, and then when they get together she sees him kissing another girl and she brushes it off. Then her sister falls in love with him. Then when she met his friend, she got over him and started going after him. It's not okay! And then, the main character was talking about staying down the road of clean, but then all of a sudden they do it.
