From Shoujo Manga Maniac:
Butterfly is a young geisha in training. She loves and admires her childhood friend, Chinatsu-san. He’s a tattoo artist, and he paints butterflies on her arms and is kind to her. One day she visits Chinatsu and finds a naked woman there. Butterfly is devastated at the thought of her friend with another girl all along. Soon after, a rich foreigner offers to buy Butterfly and take her to live luxuriously in a faraway land with him. She’ll miss life at home, but maybe it will help her forget Chinatsu. It had solid art and a rather nice setting. The story was rather pleasant and enjoyable, and the ending was well done until the last few pages, which seemed artificial and unneccessary. Oh well.

In it's shojo genre, I rated it highly on the plot's cuteness. Most of the serious parts come in the 2nd volume but contrary to average shojo plots the setting is in WWII so you can sort of see where that is going. But it's not a very deep, complex story, otherwise it would be categorized under jose, so don't expect that. It is simplistic, sweet, and cute.
If you feel like reading a semi-light shojo like that, this is definitely the manga I would recommend for you.

The first chapter was nice and really interesting, but then it kinda went downhill and became rather cliched. It's worth reading if you're bored, though.

Though some parts of the story is bit too cliche.. but I love the atmosphere when I read along, it's sweet and bitter at the same time. It made me cry in some parts but also made me smile in other parts! Highly recommended for anyone who love historic base story... (Though I wish Butterfly is a older teen but I guess it's how the world like at that time right?)
Most beautiful work Ogura Sensei had so far!

I really liked this manga, in fact, I think that it's one of my favorite shoujo manga. I wonder why people don't want to make all this manga in to anime...I really liked it. I liked the drawing style, too. I also liked how it ended, it was so kawaii!!!!
Somehow, I wished that there were more chapters to Mademoiselle Butterfly, but I think it ended just fine. The ending was really, really good!! It gives you a satisfying ending. I recommend this manga to be one of you first shoujo manga to read!! Of course, there's a lot of other good ones, like, Faster than a Kiss, Help!!, Beauty Pop, and Special A. These are just a few of them!! (Oh, and that all the manga listed above is recommended!! Only Special A is in anime. Too bad...)

I love the artwork, it's sharp and neatly drawn. Really, really like how the characters are in this story. Love the plot as it is simple and perfect as a shoujo manga read. This story is short and sweet. Possibly the sweetest shoujo manga I've ever read.

I really like this manga. It is pretty much made of pure love. *_*
