A series with a lot of thought behind it, opposed to more standard shounen series. The entire world feels much more fleshed out than others too, the entire NEN-system for example is really a prime example of this.
The Ryodan arc to this date remains my favorite, a really wel planned and executed storyline where you honestly care about the villains as well as the good guys. No overpowered Gon or Killua, just Kurapica who sacrificed himself to grow even stronger but only for one cause. Really superbly done.
There's a lot to be said about Hunter X Hunter, the manga is really a rough diamond to be honest. Which is all too obvious with the excellent execution done by the animation team of the anime; all the potential it has really shines then.
Its true that the manga-artwork may seem minimalistic, but at the times Togashi really puts an effort in his drawings he's definitely up to par with other shounen-manga. Its an aquired taste I suppose, but the fact that this manga was quite influential to others in its genre says enough.
Give it a chance, try to look past the sloppy art and pacing at times; and you might discover what people see in this slightly underrated series.

I would have to say that this is my favorite manga. Because it is not repetitive in most aspects and still has not gone downhill like naruto obviously has. If only a scanlation group would pick up work on this manga...

HxH is an addicting series that is a must read. The character development (especially between Killua and Gon) is amazing and so is the unique fighting system.

hmm what to say of this
the premise is very good; but the artwork (even in his better periods) is quite below par... Fine if you dont care about that, but art is a factor I value very much in a manga; or else Id be reading books
so its a shame that the drawings kind of ruin the experience, and potential this has

The story up until the end of Greed Island is excellent. There is plenty of character development, and the story keeps you at the edge of your seat wanting more. After that (which is now) it goes downhill, mainly due to the horrendous art that appears from time to time. This is due to the author's poor health, but there really is no excuse as he refuses to hire/use assistants.

Still, I believe HxH has tons of potential, because the main plot is still only partly developed (Gon's true objective). That alone is enough to keep me interested in HxH's development. How it goes from there will depend on Togashi's determination. Hope he gets well soon. =)

I agree with Manick. It's great until the latest volumes (18+). The plot with bugs is miserable. But anyway It's worth reading. I recommend this one.

It's very good and interesting to read and watch! The villians are complicated (especially the magician Hisoka). I would recommend it for everyone to follow the story until the very end.
