Banana Fish is a great crime manga. It's pretty old but deals with the gangs of New York. 🙂 You can also try FAKE if you like yaoi.

Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo, Q.E.D., and Tantei Gakuen Q are all mystery/detective manga.

Soil. Beware though, its rather offbeat and out-there. And the art is not to everyone's liking.
Also; Benkei In New York, and Hotel Harbour View.
