Suffice to say, it'd be nice if we had an option to block people on forums: in private messaging and also their posts.

There are many a times when I wanted to block you-know-who......This is a great idea.

I don't see a reason for not being able to block PMs, but sometimes, you'd get pretty confused with a missing post here and there.

btw, ares, what does you avatar mean by, "It's only a goodbye"? And a while back you had it flashing lots of different members' avatars again too...

This is something I can't prioritize at the moment... I'm partially against the idea as well... though PM blocking might be workable.

kind of a cold idea don't you think? blocking posts is...well, I don't see the need to (unless you're talking about me 🙁 ) Flaming is banned so we don't really get those posts that could piss you off. Sure there may be some...unlikable posts but its just part of life. Live with it 😕

Why would I want to block another person's posts in a public discussion site? (If I don't like to see ideas that are against my way of thought the least I'm going to do is to enter into a open discussion web). And besides, if you begin to block people's commentaries, it wouldn't be a forum anymore.
The PM's idea is a lot more comprehensible, but it could cause a lot of fighting among the members (which is understandable. Who would want to be blocked and filtered?)

I agree with NeoFireHawk. It won't be a forum anymore. Might as well get the e-mail adresses of the people you want to only talk to and do it over IM or something.

If you get that far I'd say that the PM block option would be of little help since you could perfectly make multiple accounts...
And besides, I didn't say that I was totally against the PM block idea, I only said that it could cause problems (but I don't think it'd be a great deal since that option is fairly common around the web). But anyways, the implementation of that option is of little or no concern to me since I think that I'd hardly use it.

let's not argue over the technicality. Politicians do that, sophists do that, but they never get anything done. Neomail use it, Hotmail use it, Yahoo mail use it, every other message system uses blocking system, why shouldn't we be the first forum to initiate a blocking system.
