This seems almost as bad or even worse than Tazmo since the company is running a whole network of sites. I'd boycott all sites run by this company.

i might be wrong about this but wasn;t the the whole point of the community being angry at tazmo, being the fact that he used the unknowing newcomers to sell manga which was scanlated for the FREE viewing.
so as far as i can tell from mangafox is that they still offer the manga free, so i really would like to know what the problem with Mangafox is?
my point in gerneral
tazmo charges money for viewing the manga which was meant to be free
mangafox shows it for free but in some way (i don really see how?) they make a profit?

Apparently, they make a profit from the ads and whatnot. Some people have argued that some profit is needed to run the site itself.
I have mixed feelings. Yes, they are not charging people to view the manga, yet in some way they are using free scanlations to gain traffic and well, I guess profit in some way. I don't know how the whole money/ads work.
I didn't know that Mangafox was run by a corporation though, that's news to me.

I'm not sure but isn't the difference that they get money off of adds on the
site and not by tricking people into paying for free scans. Dont they use the money to help run the site itself. I didn't know they were backed by a corp but it seems alright. 😕

As long as I don't have to pay anything, I don't really care. In my opinion, all websites have a right to make money.

I hate MangaFox. >.>
Anyways, it's slightly different from Tazmo...but in a way, it irks me that a company is profiting from free scanlations.
This is why people should just download their manga. D;

To host that many manga to read online it cost a large amount of bandwidth. I take part in running a website before, the case may be different but it's really hard to cover that cost just by the ads. I don't think they can make much profit from it though.
Tazmo is totally different. They charge money to download manga. it's similar to sell that free manga...

I fail to see the problem... I mean, if it really bothers you, I suggest you boycott Google as well, as they do the same thing. : /
Oh... or wait... were they supposed to pull the money for their servers out of thin air with their japanime magic?

Mangafox offer free mangas. Period.
My only complaint is that there are some redirecting advertisement that will occur if you're on the site for a while (I guess). The advertisements can infect your computer with a virus. I wanted to bring that to their attention but the contact form was bugging me.
I, too, fail to see the problem. I say, kudos to them. Still, I am pissed off about that virus...

Oh. I see your point. Using free scanalation for profit... I have mixed feelings as well.
It still doesn't stop me from going to that website because Mangafox always pop up every time I search for a manga. That, and onemanga.com.

It's not bad at all, and calling it as bad as Tazmo is extremely insulting to the people who run the site and use it. Tazmo charges to actually download anything. It doesn't cost you anything to go and read manga at MangaFox. Most websites run ads because running websites, especially large, high bandwidth ones like MangaFox, costs a lot of money. It doesn't matter if a company owns the site or not. If you don't want to see the ads use Firefox with Adblocker.
Most sites that have ads will at some time have an ad with a virus in it. The bigger the site/more ads it has the more viruses it'll have. The manga download site M40 is actually "blocked" by Firefox because of it. I wish the advertisement companies could regulate it better.

You guys should probably get ad-block (takes all your worries away.)
I see nothing wrong with them getting money from ads. Anyone that sees something wrong with this is loco. Be mad at Mangafox for other many, many available reasons.
I understand that Mangafox is not a "scanlator," but simply a website that could be profiting from what the users upload (which is usually not even from the scanlators themselves, but other people that read it for free, making it widely available to other people, everything being without the mangaka's consent)
Sound familiar?

The only problem I have with mangafox are the intrusive ads, such as the ones that redirect one's browser and the talkers, and the slow page loads. Other than that the sites fine, because it does take a lot of money to run a site, which I think they get more with running those pain in the ass ads--unlike OM.
Also, if you haven't noticed, MT has ads as well. It's not like they're any better, and I bet that once they have the myriad of series that MF does they'll start thinking differently. It's just how things work (look at what MH has become). But again, they are not taking money from the user... it's the user that is helping the site by going on... not like NF. In addition, NF took the series without consent, removed credit pages, and would not remove the series that he had... MF does NOT remove the credit pages (if the user that uploaded it sans credit, all one has to do is let them know and they'll fix it), AND they do not add scanlations from scanlators do not want on the site. They are very considerate compared to NF. Do not confuse the two.

Basically this.
The only thing that bothers me about MF is that sometimes their ads sends your firewall/anti-virus program into haywire.
