I just wanna know why does the male lead (and sometimes other male characters) let the females in the story treat them like shit? Whenever I read a manga that has a female childhood friend, classmate (either a regular classmate, or the class representative), family member, or stranger that the male lead just meets, it’s pretty much a guarantee that they’ll abuse the male lead (or characters) physically, emotionally, and/or mentally. And of course, the male lead either won’t do anything and let the females run their life, or they’ll try to man up but fail miserably because the female makes that “scary demon” face. 😔 Why can’t they ever just grow some balls and tell her off without worrying about her feelings (because she OBVIOUSLY doesn’t care about his the way she talk to them). >:-(

To some it may seem like I’m taking this too seriously, but I get tired of reading a great manga or watching a great anime, only to have something like that ruin it for me and make me not want to read/watch it anymore. But can someone answer this question for me? And PLEASE don’t say “Because it’s supposed to be funny” or anything related to it being some kind of comical device, because I would find it more offensive than funny if anything like that was done to me; and I bet you all wouldn’t be guffawing at having yourself being treated lower than dirt.

*Also, if anybody knows of any manga or anime where the dude stands up for himself regularly (and wins) against anybody who treats him like that, tell me A.S.A.P. 😀 *

But yeah, what doc said, you need to broaden your horizons. I've read other manga that don't have some kind of bossy insensitive female lead, like you described. In a lot of shounen manga, the guys aren't wussies, try reading some action manga, that'd do it.

Because -for me at least- this applies IRL, too.

I've several male friends, most of whom know full well that you do not mess with me (For example being my friend's EX, who still had the scar where I'd stabbed his hand with a fineliner up until recently, or the guy who'll be limping around his video game convention tomorrow thanks to that comment about my eyeliner).

Then again, the male leads in Anime/Mangayou seem to be referring to are often supposed to be 'heroes' and the like, who would logically be capable of standing up to armed robbers, let alone someone with absolutely no known experience in fighting whatsoever.

Of course, this can also work both ways. There's been the odd occasion when I've been left wondering "Why the hell doesn't she even try to stop him, rather than just standing there just screaming like a broken tape for the entire scene?!"

Like I said to Juicifer on an earlier occasion, you can't really expect a post ending with a ' 😮 ' to be completely serious. And the winkgrin was more of a supportive gesture. I was encouraging him to go deeper into the mangaverse. 😎

And the Shounen I read aren't like that.
Plus, I was generalizing in the end.

Immortal Regis is a really good manga though.
The main protagonist doesn't take sh*t from the female lead.

I don't only read Ecchi/Harem manga because there are other titles that have examples of what I'm talking about.

Naruto (How Sakura manhandles Naruto)

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan (Hana barging in the boys' bathroom all the time and forcing Daichi to do things that he doesn't want to do)

666 Satan (How Ruby treated Jio throughout most of the story and how Mei treated Ball)

Gantz (How that chick Yamazaki Anzu JUST met Katou and was making fun of him and calling him retarded. But luckily, she died 😀 )

High School Of The Dead (Saya insulting Kohta WHILE HE'S SAVING HER LIFE)

One Piece (Nami and Robin taking advantage to Sanji, and since Eiichiro Oda said there would be no romance in One Piece, it's pretty much deliberate)

there are tons of other manga that i need to find (because i read them and just quit because of things like that), but i just point out the ones i could think of for now.

I actually read School Days, and that's the only time that I hated the dude more than anyone in the story. He was so indecisive, I was actually rooting for him to die (he did anyway in the anime and some of the endings in the game).

I do read manga like the manga you suggested me to read, but it's just that most of the time, they always run into one of the female characters that is bossy (A good example would be Rukia and Ichigo). I'm trying to find a manga where there aren't ANY bossy female characters in it at all.
