when you say musician/in a band, do you mean stuff like idols? ie skip beat
or classical musician as in nodame cantabile?

idols:
charisma doll- highschool girl who disguises herself as a singer
kimi to scandal- young female fan of popular singer discovers that he is now her 'brother'
pinky mist- girls perfect student childhood friend reveals himself to be a famous musician
ai wo utau yori ore ni obero- bit smutty, but really good, band of highschool girls who dress like boys, new member is boy who looks like girl
ardour- girl who doesn't follow the music world accidently meets famous pop group who all have bad attitudes and doesn't recognise them. they make her their assistant
chiro star project- girl is forced to become male singer to pay back debts, really different because it goes through the actual process of becoming a boy look a like, instead of skipping like other manga

are all ones that involve music, not just acting
and the music is actually important to the storyline not just a backdrop

classical:
nodame cantabile- amazing student piano player but bad attitude meets messy but good piano player who is his complete opposite
la corda d'oro- girl who has never performed before is given a magical violin and can suddenyl play. enters a competition. recomend the anime
