Does the definition "comic" degrade manga?

Do you feel the term "comic" degrades manga?
Yes
No
I don't care
Manga are comics, they're just Japanese comics. The "comics" that you think are degrading is just because you have read too many American comics

We all know that the word "manga" is just Japanese for "comics". But the word "comic" is generally frowned upon by society and is seen as slightly childish. IMHO, manga is not what is generalized as a comic because it is unique in many ways; like its continuous storyline and art style. eyes Well, is the word "comic" worthy enough to describe manga?

The main problem is that it implies humor, in my opinion. Comic isn't a degrading word. It just means that something is funny, which with comics both in the US, Japan, and basically any countries, aren't necessarily.

The way that this has been amended is by referring to comics by their proper names, graphic novels. This name is incorrect as well, since not all comics are long enough to denote the title "novel" (The name also doesn't take into account the manner in which the comic is published, as serializations aren't accurately referred to as novels, either, no matter how long they are). So in certain cases, the term graphic short story or similar would be better.
