hello, got this idea when I read one of the other threads, I'm just being a bit more general.

I recently read hot blooded woman and Tokyo crazy paradise. I have to say I really enjoyed them. Read both in a week. Anyway, I'm looking for mangas similar to these that have strong female type leads. I don't mean just ones who can fight, but ones who have strong sense of character, personality etc.

was wondering if anyone can recommend any? it dosent have to be one type of genre, I'm quite up for all. thanks in advance.

imo, Hiro Mashima always manages to portray cool women that aren't useless at all. Which is rare, in a shounen manga. Read Fairy Tail.

Oh, yeah, Bambi and Her Pink Gun is miles of awesome. For the greatest number of strong female leads, though, look no further than Claymore. Another action-oriented female lead is the lead of Sexy Voice and Robo. If you aren't averse to lolicon, Tokyo Akazukin has an awe-inspiring leading lady. Really bloody scary, though.

Josei- and shoujo-wise, I think Kimi wa Petto has a strong female lead, in the sense that she isn't a weepy, wide-eyed damsel. Then of course there's the very fun heroine of Gokusen. Hataraki Man is also a very interesting look at a professional woman's way of life.

Possibly one of my favorite josei titles is Mars, because while the heroine is a very quiet person, she internally has a lot of strength, and is a very determined and gifted young woman.

Sakuran stars the coolest prostitute I've ever seen in a manga -- she's a wonderful combination of ruthlessness and decency. The way she eventually dominates the brothel she works in is amazing.

There are plenty of yuri stories with strong female leads, too. Just a few examples are the leads of Hana no Asukagumi, Indigo Blue, Free My Soul, Love My Life and Water.

Bakuretsu Tenshi has a strong female lead. Not much has been scanlated, though you could check out the anime. That's the only one that jumped out at me in my lists.

There r many strong female leads in manga. U could try "Battle Angel Alita". I only read 5 volumes but it seemed interesting, although i'm not sure if "strong" refers to will power & character or actual physical strength.

Question... would a guy like Appare Jipangu? It's shoujo and appears to be somewhat action-oriented, and so far the art style hasn't out me off.
