Usually I try to judge after I had watched it, but well there is always reviews and stuff on the net.

Judge it once it comes out.

Some adaptations are horrible, while some are really good.

A good one would be Nodame Cantabile, I loved it.

I watched that ancient Chinese movie adaptation of Dragonball. I still have nightmares about it sometimes. >_<

I use to have hope, but usually the anime/manga is ruined. So now I think that it will be ruined till proved otherwise.

Most live action adaptations are bad. Especially movie ones.

Live action series are another matter though. They can often be good, just check out Nodame, the live action beats the anime. ^^ Another good one is Glass Mask.

I tend to judge it when it comes due to that. If a lot of fuss is raised I hear about it and thus can judge it. If no fuss it was bad and I never even judge it. ^^

in term of anime/manga adaptation, i say there not lot i seen so i can't really give a good opinion about it but my opinion about live-action adaptation on any media (in general) such as novels, books, comics, game,s etc... is this: either make it good or don't make the movie at all becasue they either screw it or ruin it sometime while other time they make it ok to watch like all the batman movie

The question addresses movies, which I haven't seen many of & I don't have much of an opinion one way or another, so voted the last option. I would think that if the manga series is very long, it would be damn hard to make a single movie that was really good, though...

As far as live-action *series* based on manga, I've seen a lot of good ones and some pretty bad ones. Generally speaking, the fewer fantasy elements there are in the manga, the better the live-action works. Ninjas with mystical powers really don't translate well to live-action, while school drama/romance is a lot easier to do well.

Live-action movie based on action packed anime or manga tend to suck big time so far I didn't stumble on one that did justice to the original work. For other genre like romance and anything with little action as possible seems ok; for example Nodame was pretty decent even though I still favored the anime adaptation to the manga.

Movies based on any manga or anime will most likely to become box office bombs (Speed Racer and Dragonball: Evolution as prime examples).

Honestly, it's a bad idea to adapt any manga or anime, since neither the manga artists or anime studios don't have any sayings to them nor do most live action adaptation don't stay true to the original sources at all.

Overall, live-action films (at least, to me) tends to ruin them instead of making any improvements.

I'm with these two. There have been so many disappointments and flops that it's gotten to the point where it's pretty much commonplace to be right about saying that a live-action movie will suck before it even comes out.

I picked: I hope they don't screw up this one...
Some aren't too bad, but the majority are. I'm just hoping that someone who actually read/saw the manga/anime will create a decent one someday. But I guess until anyone here gets into the movie business, that is highly doubtful.
