Brother has incurable disease. They have no parents, older brother has to work for every penny.
Spoiler (highlight to view) Actually, the main character is killed in chapter one...then he is turned into an immortal (hence the name).
I thought that it was a pretty good story. Also, if you had not noticed, this story has a sequel called Cavalier of the Abyss.
