I hate when people tell me, you read anime XD I don't get it that often anymore since some have learned the difference.

Never heard anyone call manga 'anime' before. O_O It wouldn't really bother me though since most animes are manga adaptations, still wrong to call it so, but not as big of a deal.
It bothers me more when fans have no idea what mangas are (don't bother to read it) because they claim that the manga has fillers. O_o Meh, but I've only seen comments like that for those popular animes.

I don't do that exactly, but I say I read manga and anime because I'm too lazy to say I read and watch manga and anime
Manga = Anime?
Nah man.
Luckily, I haven't heard anyone say this before. At least the people who I know call anime cartoons, know the difference between anime and manga

What?...
I've never heard somebody call manga - anime.
But I guess when you don't know what either actually means it's not that hard to make mistakes like that.

I hear this ALL the time, and it annoys the crap out of me. I mean, they're totally different.

I've heard this quite a lot, cos anime and manga aren't that big where I live. It doesn't really help that companies like Manga Entertainment actually release anime (do they release manga? I dunno) and there was some magazine called Manga Force here that came with anime, not manga.
In the end, I dunno why I find it so irrating for people to call manga anime or vice versa... they're two foreign words, after all, some people just don't know what they mean. But I would hope at least that some people might guess anime is just a Japanese abbreviation of "animation".

Yeah, it bothers me.
People who do it are usually people who don't really understand what either is, and, usually, they have at least a vague idea of what anime is (or have at least heard the term), so when they hear "manga," they assume that it's the same thing.
But the reason it bothers me is because I like manga but don't like anime at all. So if I tell someone I like manga, I don't want them thinking that what I like is anime. You know what I mean?

Doesn't affect me at all. Maybe before, but not anymore since if you take out the sound, the color, and the motions from anime, and add some subtitles(in this case) it turns into a manga to me, at least. .__.

Can't recall the last time anyone mixed up anime and manga. Ironically, I have heard people mix up manga with cartoons. It is amazing how clueless people can be.

Oh no, I hear it all the time. And it drives me up the wall.
On the last poll I dropped in my ball for "But anime ARE cartoons!" because to me anime is just a cartoon sub-genre. If someone wants to call 'em "Japanese cartoons", so what same diff. I sometimes call anime that when explaining it to people who have never heard of anime (I work at a used bookstore that sells movies. Lots of parents come in looking for anime for their kids but have no idea what their kids are talking about).
But anime and manga are terms for too different completely different media: one, film animation; the other, sequential art. Note that nobody mixes up "cartoons" and "comics". It doesn't bother me as much when someone is completely new to anime and manga, but when the person knows what he or she is talking about he or she needs to get it right. There is a reason that there are different terms for these two things: because they are two different things. They are not the same thing.
Blargh! Rawr! As you all can see, this is a pet peeve of mine. My landlord is constantly calling manga "anime books" and I am the third tenant who has lived in this apartment who is a manga & anime fan. The last tenant was a good friend of his! He knows better. Gets me every time.

People call manga "ANIME"?! I never heard that comparison before EVER. How can people even MAKE that mistake?! Strange...
Alhough I said that, I picked "Not bothered at all" since that seemed the closest to "I never heard that before" or "I don't care"
