Opinion on including colored fanart in scanlation releases? Perhaps I should've added an option along the lines of "Only if it's good art"

I actually don't care either way. >: They really make no difference to me, but if they just have the colored page and not the original... which is what I want to see - since some are awfully done - then it is a bit annoying. o-o

I agree with BaeSooky. I don't really mind the colored pages as long as the original one is still there. But I also think it's better if the group would make a separate web page of fan-colored pages and not include it in the chapter.

I actually once colored a manga page for fun ( a chapter title page, not one from the middle or anything) and posted it on a blog, and the scanlators saw it and they asked me if they could put it in a v2 of the chapter they were doing. I said yes, but I did worry that people might not like it. It was the first manga coloring I'd ever done and it wasn't really anything special. And in fact I have no clue if they actually did put it in there or if anyone else saw it. I would kind of like to download the chapter from them again to see if they put it in, but I don't remember which one it was from.

But I do agree with the others, the original page should be included too. I'm not bothered about them being included in chapters, unless they're REALLY bad, but I suppose it's the same kind of thing as fan art; normally you just leave all that kind of stuff to the fans who are willing to search for it themselves e.g. if you want to look at it, go find it and do so; if you don't, we won't shove it in your face.

I like to see them. Like Sooky said, sometimes there are fan-made drawings that aren't done that well, but they're usually in the back after the chapter's done so it doesn't bother me that much. The ones where they just color over the mangaka's drawings are real nice to see though, cause some of them are very imaginative.

Not that I see the point at all, but whatever...
Scan groups can put as much junk as they want inside their files,
as long as it doesn't damage the overall chapter...
They do the work, so they get to have some fun. :3

You can PM me if you need a temporary (freelance) cleaner/redrawer for some project. Especially if it's something with nice art.
Being the lazy person that I am, I'm not likely to accept anything long-term though.

I don't like them, but they can be tolerated.
Some people are quite talented at it, whilst others are not so...

I dislike them in the middle of a chapter, better to clump it with the credits.
And it's damn horrible when you get 5 fan coloured versions of the same page, one is already far more than enough.

There are some good ones, and there are some that aren't good, I skip them though 🤣

Don't mind, but annoys a bit to read the same page twice
if the coloured page comes after the original.

To me, fan colored pages makes no difference.

I like the ones that are done well. The ones that aren't that good, I just skip over. After all, it's just one click/button to move on to the next page. But including the original page is very important 😃
