well, i whipped this up in a couple of minutes so here ya go
using IRC in Lurk is fast easy, and really fun to use!
- 1. go to www.sysreset.com - Click "Download" at the top of the page, and click "Sysreset Full Installation pack".
- 2. Double click on the .exe file that was downloaded (wherever you downloaded it to), and follow the installation instructions.
- 3. Now, go to where it was installed (standard installation path is C:\sysreset) and double click "mirc.exe"
- 4. CLick continue when that stupid guy shows up.
- 5. Now you need to set up IRC. You can fill in some bogus information for your name and e-mail address. As for your nickname, you'll need something there. Think of a nickname and type it in the "Nickname" box, then type in another in the "Alternative" box. The "Alternative" nickname is used if your first choice is already in use by someone.
- 6. type "/server irc.irchighway.net" without the quotes into IRC. Yu will be automatically connected to irchighway.
- 7. Now, yu set up yur nickname and password.
First, type "/nick (newname)" without the quotes or (). Put in yur own unique name where newname is. [EX: /nick nooblet] if this message appears:
This nickname is registered and protected. If it is your
nick, type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY password. Otherwise,
please choose a different nick.
If you do not change within one minute, I will change your nick.
THen yu must use another nickname for the one yu wanted is already taken.
- 8. Now its time to register. Type
/msg nickserv register (password) (email)
(password) is where yur password goes, and (email) is where yur email goes. Duh!
- 9. Now yu will get an activation number in yur email. IT should say something like this.
You have requested to register the following nickname Majeh.
Please type " /msg NickServ confirm 2Nc6hwF5b " to complete registration.
If you don't know why this mail is sent to you, please ignore it silently.
PLEASE DON'T ANSWER TO THIS MAIL!
irchighway.net administrators.
Type
/msg NickServ confirm 2Nc6hwF5b
(NOTE: this IS NOT THE confirmation message yu will receive!!!!)
- 10. Now yu are registered!
Type
/msg nickserv identify (yur password goes here)
If yur mode doesnt set to +r, then somethings wrong.
(it should say "mode set to +r or something")
- 11. Now type
/join #lurk
YUR IN!!!!
- 12. Go to www.gotlurk.net and start serching for manga!
(Use the search tool) =P
then click on the # icon next to the manga yu want.
now, yu should get one or two grey boxes that say
/msg Neverwhere xdcc send #940
/msg Wrec xdcc send #867
or something of the sort.
ONLY ONE of these need to be typed into IRC .
HEY yur done! start downloading!

hmmm, i guess you aren't getting the acnolegment you deserve, because a lot of people already know how to use mirc. I remember thinking my flatmate was some hardcore computer freak because he was using mirc to download anime, and i just thought:"wow man, so many colors!"

yeah, there are a lot of heartless leachers out there, i know because i am one. Well, maybe i have a heart. I can't even seed bittorrents. I share my internet connection with 3 other computer addicts, so its an iron rule that finished bits are removed from the shared servers bittorrent client.

A very good guide for new mirc user. Two years ago i had to learn how to use mirc by myself because there were not so many (and good) guides like yours. Well done.

thanks man, actually I already give up in trying to use mIRC, but your instruction is easy to understand, i once tried to use as a guide the instructions given by Dattebayo but the only thing that i understand is that when you made a mistake your "BANNED," it made me think twice and said to my self "Hell No!" what the hell are them, one mistake and ur banned. being a noob, making a mistake in the beginning is a common thing.
