UPDATE:Teaser Trailer

It’s now official! Reports are streaming in about the new Avatar Series, Avatar The Legend of Korra.

The show will premiere sometime next year in 2011

Here is what Nickelodeon said about the new series:

Nickelodeon said in a release that “The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra.”

Korra’s quest eventually leads her to Republic City–the epicenter of the world of “Avatar.” A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all nations. Korra finds that Republic City suffers from rampant crime and is also dealing with an anti-bender revolt. Korra is tutored by Aang’s son, Tenzin, in the ways of airbending.

Executives of the show explained Korras’ personality as “hot headed, independent, and ready to take on the world”

Looks badass. I especially love that picture. The animation looks pretty detailed and mature, probably like ATLA's third season. So the character's about 17-ish(?) And it's 70 years in the future....so Aang must have died pretty young, huh?

I am super excited for this, though I'm not sure how they're going to top ATLA's first series, especially the original gang. Thoughts? Speculations?

Overall I liked the first series. Allot of nedless filler at times, but its to be expected with all animations.

Main character doesnt sound all that interesting, but if there's an awesome suportive cast like the first one then thatd be great.

Il be sure to check it out~

New Avatar? Hell yeah!!!
dances

I never would have expected them to go for a different type of atmosphere entirely... steampunk is so different from the first series. Personally I prefer the setting of the first one better, but this still looks good and I definitely want to watch it. I just hope that it doesn't take itself too seriously... That's one of the benefits Avatar has over some anime.

Considering that Bumi was 100+, yeah Aang does die relatively young, which could mean cameo appearances of everyone else. Interesting that they reveal Tenzin as Korra's airbending tutor, considering he would be the "last" to teach Korra based on the air->water->earth->fire->air... cycle. Regardless, I'll be watching it.

It kind of makes sense though. The fire nation seemed to use steampunk-like technology with their machines, iirc. If Zuko succeeded in spreading that technology around the world, it would make sense that a "metropolis" would employ that technology liberally,

I haven't jizzed this much since I found out that Marvel vs Capcom 3 was confirmed. 🤣

Seriously though, I'm really looking forward to this. It seems like 2011 is gonna be good for me, cause a lot of things I'm waiting for are coming out then.

OSHI-
Yes, yes, yes.
Kinda sad there won't be any more Zuko though...
Hoping for another misled, obsessed cute antagonist.

The only word I can think of to describe this is "awesome". I've been waiting for there to be some sort of follow up to the 3rd season of Avatar, although I thought it would be some short special explaining Zuko's mother's whereabouts. Oh well, that might be answered in this new series, hopefully.

Consider the fact that Aang was stuck in ice for 100 years. So if ever, he would be like 150+ years old, right?
