How many of you actually buy and own the US releases of manga? (I know this site is all about downloading...but I just had to ask)
A just ruler amongst tyrants
I own a little over two hundred volumes of manga I have purchased. It's not too much, I focus more on buying anime (Anime is harder to download at this point. Manga is easier to get).
Overall, though, I don't just download. If I like something, I will buy it. 😀
This'll be an interesting topic.
How much do you have, Lambchopsil?

Rarely. I have about 60-70 manga volumes which might seem like a lot but I've read about 1,200-1,500 volumes of scanlations.
There are a few I just can't pass up on after reading the scanlations. Nodame Cantabile and Hayate the Combat Butler (when it comes out) comes to mind.

I actually am still a high school student with no allowance...I WISH I could buy some stuff though. All the US stuff that I read is either my friend's or the library's (or at Borders)

Well I used to buy manga, but once I started reading scanlations I realized how much better the translations were online. Also, US releases are atleast a year behind the Japanese release when it's an ongoing series. Lastly, it's free online... After finding all these downsides I stopped buying US releases (save for a few), but before I stopped I had accumulated a good 70+ volumes of manga . 😀
Well, I should probably clarify mine. The 200 or so I own have been collected over the last ten or so years. I don't buy too often as its also a matter of money, for me.
Luckily for me, the local library took notice of how much manga I read, and asked for my opinion on what they should get. So, I recommended them some good stuff.
Libraries are a good source for manga for the poor. Most of them are connected to the rest statewide, so trading between libraries is also possible. 😀

Yes, the library rocks...Now if I could just get my dad to drive me there, then all would be great, right? I also love Borders (and so many other kids do too.) Everytime I go to Borders, there's at least one person reading manga somewhere.

I've bought a few, they got stolen by my brother.
Supporting the companies which licensed them helps keep the flow.

I buy a batch of series I read every month. Since most good seinen is still unlicensed I end up buying mostly shounen series by Viz. Say about 10+- series.

When I see a Manga, I would probably like: I buy it, no matter what 😀
Also, when I already read it via Internet 😎
Actually, I only use the Scanlations, because the Manga isn't out yet
I can't help it, I must keep the book in my hands 😛

Yeah, same here. Nothing beats having a book in your hands. 🙂
I mainly use scanlations to read stuff that'll probably never get licensed, or to check out a series I might want to buy.

Manga is pretty cheap if you buy in bulk online. There's plenty of sites with free shipping and $5-$7 for a volume.
