Site Poll - Chat Box 129 - Replacing Manga Covers

This poll, suggested by Panalopy, is about the covers of manga (and manhwa, manhua, etc). Apparently (I personally don't know any cases of this, but I guess it exists) sometimes when publishers release a new version of a series, they replace the cover with something different and newer. What are your feelings on this?
Personally, the cover doesn't matter to me. As long as the story and art inside doesn't change, it's all cool. Although... if they're releasing a newer version, then I hope they add some special features somewhere!
Question: Feelings on newer covers of manga volumes already released in the past
Choices:
Sure! An updated cover is always nice! - votes: 1555 (15.4%)
Only alright if the cover was made by the original author - votes: 4327 (43%)
No way. What was wrong with the old one? - votes: 1079 (10.7%)
Cover doesn't matter. It's the inside that does - votes: 3105 (30.8%)
There were 10066 total votes.
The poll ended: April 9th 2011

I love new covers, because that'd mean that I'd get more colored pages to collect. 😀 I collect covers and artwork from mangakas I like, and sometimes it's possible to make a nice wallpaper from new artwork, so I really appreciate it.
But in the end, of course it's the contents that matter.

I've only seen one case of this on Viz's release of the first Naruto omnibus but I guess it happens more often (although I would wager more in Japan than anywhere else).
I'm fine with it if the original author/illustrator drew the cover. As long as it was intended to be there by the person who drew the manga than I'm fine. Still, I like it when, if there is a new cover, there is a picture of the original cover (color or no) on the inside, just so I feel I'm not missing out on anything.
Come to think of it, I wonder if that's what Kodansha is going to do when they release Sailor Moon. Hmmm.

If a special edition of a manga is released, it'll almost always have a new cover (from what I have seen)--sometimes they keep the same picture, but they move the words around or change the font, etc. The reason for the change may be as simple as making it easy to tell the new edition from the regular one.
As for my preference... well, cover art is very important to me, but when it comes to different versions of covers for one particular manga, I just like the more attractive one better. So whether it's a newer cover doesn't really matter to me--but "cover doesn't matter" definitely isn't what I'd say. So I guess I won't vote :/
I don't care what the cover is like.
It will still be in my sweaty palms
when I read what is inside of it.
What I love is the fresh smell
of a newly bought inked paper.
I personally have never seen a replaced manga cover with a new one, but I don't really care....

^This, the special editions (multi-volumes) comes with a new cover because the old cover doesn't really cover it anymore hence the new one is put in place.
On second thought, tokyo pop did screw with Western Shotgun's(NA name of Blazin' Barrels) cover(and content) when they brought it over, no wonder it didn't work out and it was discontinued, annoying tokyo pop... >:-(
a new cover is alright, it can be refreshing.
but the content is more important

I never though about that before but i can't say cover doesn't matter specially on new serie sometime i won't read a manga just because i don't like the cover but if it's a serie i already read i don't care what the cover look like.
I don't even pay attention to the cover, I'd much rather just start reading right away.
I only care if they do it midway through a series. Like if the previous covers all used one theme or style, and then the new one just breaks away from that. I haven't seen it happen though.
