Second option. It takes at least a few chapters for me usually before I decide to continue on or stop reading it.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

Yup. Same here.
I don't expect mangaka's to have perfected a story in its first chapter

second.
but
it depends on how bad it is
when you buy the magazine you just keep reading it every week/month
but if i only read it online i probably only gonna give it a couple of chapters
I give the series a few chapters, maybe a volume, to see whether I continue to read or not.
Unless I can't handle the art. If the art's no good, bye bye.

I hate above all else dropping something i started that apply for everything so of course manga is included.
I mostly read completed scanlated manga since i hate starting to read ongoing manga when i don't know when they will finish.
So i finish everything i started no matter how bad i think the manga is that's why i normally don't read lot of manga with 10+ chapter unleast i know i will love it.

I have dropped some series after the first chapter because it really isn't my kind of series. I don't do it that often since I usually take a while to start a new series but every once in a while something just doesn't work for me and I'm not that interested in waiting for it to settle in.
Not all series work out for me. 🙄
drop the series if i don't like the art.
wait for more chapters to see how the story goes on.
so between first and second opt

i usually give up on a series after reading the first volume
I usually keep reading unless it's bad.
This week's favorites:
ççççççç[Ô.Ô] tsutopodus© will eat your manga and steal your cats!
If the first chapter is bad, I'll try to keep reading until I've at least finished the volume, then decided if I want to keep going after that. So far though I only have 2 series that I dropped, so it doesn't happen often.

I'll usually keep reading for at least a volume, unless there's some element that I just really dislike.

Oh, good question. For me, unless the first chapter is really terrible (the art is terrible or the story includes someting I really don't like), I'll read several more chapters (at least the whole first volume) before I decide.
It's because usually, I need several chapters before I can really get into the story, so after only one chapter, I don't feel like I'm ready to judge it yet. Also, when reading a story that's dull, I'm often plagued by the thought, "But what if in the next chapter it gets better, and I chose to quit right before it gets good? That'd be such a shame," and so I feel like I just can't give up yet. I drop it when I get to the point where I dread reading another chapter... but that may take fifty chapters or so.
