I read the two volumes that have been scanned and I am in love with this story line. I reminds me sort of, of Mars. Except there's a different feel to this one, I can't explain.
Anyway, can anyone point me towards a manga with similar content, girl is sexually abused, distrustful of men until one day someone shows up who can show her how it's all supposed to be and not just fear and pain. (um... sorry, recently wrote a short story drabble on the subject... )
Something, mayhap, where the heroine isn't even aware of the pleasurable side of intimacy.
Genre don't really matter as long as there's romance and good art.
Is that almost too specific? ^__^ Thanks for your help

It's LIKE what you're asking for kare kano. It's not the girl who was abused but the guy, and it's a REALLY deep story line to it. Romance is in it, decent comedy, pretty good art. Go check it out.

Um, I can't really agree with that. KareKano and Bitter Virgin have precious little in common (trust me, I've read both). But I have to say that they're both awesome, so you should read KareKano anyway, if you haven't already.
Unfortunately, I'd have to say the only series I CAN suggest is the one you've already read (Mars).
To help clarify what I imagine you actually like about the series, you should mention the relationship between the two leads: the girl trusts the guy only because she thinks he has no interest in her (and therefore doesn't fear him) while he desperately wants to protect her as he is the only one who knows her secret. It's a very delicately balanced relationship and is extremely appealing.

I need something to distract me from the mountian of homework that's threatening to crush me I've been meaning to continue Kare Kano, I couldn't get into it before, perhaps I'll pick it up again.

Hmm, this may be completely off the wall, but try and appropriate a copy of 'Hourglass of Summer' ('Natsuiro no Sunadokei'). It's not a manga, it's a visual novel/ren-ai game, but the relationship between the main character and the lead girl Serizawa Kaho has strong echoes of that desperate dependence which characterizes Bitter Virgin (although I can't elaborate without spoilers). It might be a bit hard to find now as I think Hirameki has gone bust, but you shouldn't have THAT much trouble.
Plus the added advantage is that after you've finished the Kaho route, you can play the other girls as well for something different (I'm quite partial to Tomomi-sensei). Aren't games great?
