neither do I have photoshop nor know japanese... so the only real option left for me is a proofreader. What exactly does that position entail?
right now my idea of "proofreader" is: you give me literal translation, I make sentences look nice while keeping page layout/speech-bubbles in mind. Am I wrong?

Proofreaders read through translated text and edits grammatical and spelling errors. They also make sure that the sentence makes sense in English.

Sometimes, translators translate korean very literally or rudimentary. its your job as a proofreader to restructure or rephrase that sentence to sound more normal in english. It varies, some translators will have lots of mistakes, while others wont.
Overall, its a very simple job if you know english well ^^
