I prefer older than me.

The themes are by far more interesting than
those of tales that revolve around young adults.
Not a given, but frequently is the case.

I don't really care how old the characters are, but
usually the settings are affected by the age as it is prone to
reflect the audience. I prefer utterly miserable characters
over characters in teen year turmoil. Stoic love over panty-shots.
Unless they are executed with wit and that's not easy to accomplish.
Age itself is just a number, as the creator chooses what the actors are.
Their experience and worldview is fictitious after all.

I chose approximately the same age as me but I also like MCs that are older than me. What I do not like, though, is that the MC is younger than me...by a lot--say 7-10 years younger.

I prefer the same age as me, that way I can think if I were in that situation what would I do.
If the plot is good I don't mind older than me. If the MC is like 10 years old or younger I probably would only read if it was for comedy. If it had a serious plot then I wouldn't.

This poll was interesting. Made me think about what I like and how it has changed over time. I find that I mostly like characters around my own age. I can like others as well, yet I have an easier time when it is near my age group.

I hardly know the ages of characters these days.
Sure I might know their age range (like if they're in High School or something) but unless it's specified, I never know what their actual age is.

I don't usually care what age they are anyway.

Characters that are at minimum 12years of age/USA middle school
I tend to dislike really young characters. :/ Older is okay though

No preference. Age doesn't matter to me. As long as their story is interesting, I will be happy. bigrazz

No preference(within a reasonable range, of course), as long as they do well at what they do.

I prefer younger than me.... I don't know why, but I rather read mangas where the mc is in highschool. Occasionally, I would read a manga where the character is older. If I said no preference, then I would be lying... roll eyes

No preference. Why? Because age in manga don't matter. Look at Naruto, he's like 17. 18? He goes nine tails mode and beasts on everyone, even beating people like Pain, who has rinnegan and has more experience in battle and hes like what 30? Whatever. For boys in manga it doesn't really matter, but girls, its kinda disturbing. Ever read HOTD? Its god damn Rack City. Their even in highschool too, and the the girl who has the bigges rack in my school is fat. none

i prefer stories about characters my age or older. i find them easier to relate to. also, it's easy to get tired of stories about younger characters (high schoolers and middle schoolers) since there are so many of them. it's a nice change of pace to read about characters who have already finished school.
