I don't believe that there is a soul mate out there, I believe that we're all compatible with each other. The difference between one's special someone and everyone else in the world is the time they spend together and the bond and understanding they form.

That is very wise. I agree with you. I think being willing to have empathy for another person, and being willing to put in the hard work it takes to understand one another and to get along is the only way to keep any relationship going, whether it's friendship or romance. The hard part is finding someone who wants to put in the same amount of work that you do, and who will have empathy and understanding for you in return. Finding that kind of a match is as close as we can come to finding a mythical "soul mate." (Unfortunately in a lot of relationships, there's usually one person who works harder than the other person/wants it more.)

I totally agree with you. I think (and have seen) that love is all about a decision, yes you need the chemestry and ... all the other things, but to love someone is a decision you have to make everyday. And it's really hard to work out of love, no to earn it. That's why it has to be a mutual decision.
So, as it was said, that mutual thing... which is very hard to find and wait for (it's easier to settle) is the closest you can get to the 'soul mate' thing, but it doesn'w magically exist.

Well I definitely don't think that everyone is compatible with everyone else. I think there are a lot of different personality types, personal beliefs, goals, etc that automatically exclude us from being compatible with certain people. If you put in the effort, you might be able to get along with people vastly different from yourself, but that doesn't mean that you'll be able to fall in love with them.

I think for a romantic relationship you definitely need chemistry and passion first. It's after that that you need to have empathy and understanding to continue the relationship for years and years

No, the concept of soul mates is definitely too supernatural to be real.

I don't know as I'm still too young and inexperienced to be talking about this.
But I do believe everlasting love exists.

I think the world is too random for everyone to have a soul mate

I like to think that soul mates exist, but people do have some good points against it, so I said maybe. I just think it's really romantic that there's someone you're supposed to find and be with, very sweet.

So much pessimism here. Where are the shoujo readers? O.o

As for me, if I had a soul mate, then she is pretty good at hiding. laugh

I don't really believe in the concept of Soul mates, because I've never seen any evidence of it. It's a nice thought but I don't know any couple that has that level of compatibility from the beginning. It's something that takes time, and even the most suited couple will still disagree and fight.

I like the idea of soulmates in a story, though doesn't mean I have to believe in it. Same goes with love at first sight; it's interesting to read about it but I don't think it happens in real life.

I don't know what level of compatibility people would consider a couple as soulmates, but I'm certainly holding out hope that they exist in the world. I'm living my life with the tiniest of hope, but realistically speaking the chances of an encounter are very rare. Still, I advocate for soulmate believers.

I personally believe in trial and error, but that's me.
I'm not a cynic, kind of, but the idea of, "There's one person for everyone" feels like a lie. If you want to find love (Or lust), you got to work for it. And don't expect the first person you fall head over heels in love will be your soul mate. Not saying love doesn't exist, but love isn't simple. It never is.

I did believe it before... but then something happened, I grew up. Now, I think that people fall inlove because of physical attraction and personality compatibility. And love doesn't really last a life time, people grow tired of it, that's why someone once told me to marry a friend so that when the time comes when we don't love each other anymore, we can stay together as friends. Moreover, when people say I love you, it doesn't mean it's for forever.
