I'm hesitantly thinking about buying a scanner. I tell myself it's to scan old photos...the prehistoric ones left in my shoebox. But really.......

So what features should I keep an eye out for when shopping for scanners? Let's pretend I just might have to scan some manga, among other things. What are some of your experiences [bad and good] with scanners when scanning manga? I've taken a look at the crop of new Canons and they seem rather nice and affordable. My budget is looking to be below $200.

Thanks for any suggestions/comments/tips. I'm pretty sure there's a lovely website out there with a guide to buying the correct scanner. A kick in that direction is welcome. But I also wanna hear from a variety of voices.

Here's what I'd look for:::
Flat Bed (That means you lay your sheet down, and put the cover on, and then scan) as opposed to a feeder one.
VERY Big DPI numbers
A good brand name (HP, Canon, etc)

Thats all that I can think of at this moment...
