I second this suggestion; this option is avaible on a few manga reading websites, and it would give a little more flavored variety of manga than the usual set of manga we members would normally search through. A random button would really have me visiting the site more often (if that's really at all any more possible) And also some filters would be nice so that I don't end up with an H manga every 4-5 random searches.
Now sure what kind of "random searches" you're doing, but we have those features already... In the User CP page you can add filters to the releases page so that certain genres don't show up when you're browsing new releases; also, in the series genre search, you can eliminate certain genres and also choose to only have manga with at least one scanlation release show up in the results.
Edit: we don't have a random manga/"surprise me" button, but that's been suggested before so meh
You seem to have misinterpreted my statement. I was just stating that those same filters would be nice to be included within the options of a 'surprise me' or 'random manga' button. I am fully aware of the abilities avaible for the manga search and new releases page. Having a random button would eliminate some pre-judgemental thoughts I have towards manga when they are stacked on in columns of lists with only a rating and title. The idea of coming across a very nice manga at random is kinda fun for me. This feature may never get added as the site's purpose is to list manga with details of its authors, genres, categories, etc. But, this is a suggestion and hopefully not a judgement of my inabiity to utilize given resources. Thanks for the thought though.
I understand what you mean, but I don't really understand how a "random manga" button with some settings so it won't suggest certain genres is any different from just doing a series genre search, excluding certain genres and then just picking one from the list at random. If you want your random manga button to have certain conditions on it and exclude certain genres, it's not really random at all...
I too understand that which you are speaking of, however this differs from a traditional genre search and picks out a single series from a list that may potentially contain hundreds of other series. It seems unneccessary and that's why it probably won't ever be implemented on this site, but it has worked successfully for me on manga reading websites, and it just seems convenient to have the option. Thanks for sharing your side on this topic. Edit: And also this is more of a curiosity tool, or exploration gadget. Limiting by filters will allow people to choose how curious they are . . . Also, picking one out from a list randomly doesn't exactly work too well, for me, because they are always organized a little too well for me to pick the one that'll stick on my lists. Well I don't know, it's just a preference (if that's the right word), rather than filling in the search categories for each search, just having a set filter you can tweak here and there while still getting some randomness seems more appealing. Once again this is just a suggestion. Edit: Sorry this last post seems so jumbled up, it's getting late and Imma little tired. Thanks once again.
