So, Ichigo, having found out his past, became so determined that he apparently gained the King's Haki... Bwahahahaha.
So now he will get his own Asauchi-based Zanpakutou. I guess the old Zangetsu was formed from whatever remnants were left of the original Shinigami whom Aizen used for his little experiment? This would make sense of the context of the inner hollow saying that he and Zangetsu are one.
Also, Kensei seems to know exactly what buttons to press on Shuuhei. The bigger dog-creature seems an unnecessary distraction though. I hope Kubo won't dwell on the matter for too long.

The talk with his dad helped him solify his sense of self that had been waning due to what Yhwach said to him, further enhanced by his Bankai being broken and all. Then comes in the convenient ass-pull made by the smith Oetsu that provides the immediate means of returning to the Palace area. You saw that Ichigo was just starting to wonder about the means to get there, and voilá, the means appears. They even gave a decent-ish, but slighty bullshitty, explanation of a two-step supergate with set activation times.
And really, consider what a determined and motivated Ichigo is capable of...The Asauchi kneeling for him was not strange at all. When he is at the top of his game, he stands far above Renji. Pure shinigami, mixed hybrid, blah blah. Power is power, and the Asauchi seem to respect it.

Zangetsu could be the remnants of Isshin's power that was sealing the hollow, since Isshin wouldn't have some random shinigami's zanpakutou (the coincidence of both of them having "Getsuga Tenshou" as a technique is too much).
On an unrelated note, Komamura has always confused me, given the idea that shinigami are just human souls that are dead. This giant beast looks like a dumb development, but maybe there'll be some explaination hidden in there.

you know, I was kinda annoyed with the previous chapter.
it was like, Isshin telling Ichigo about his mum and her affiliation and demise, which is cool. But this whole Ichigo saying thanks and moving on, wth?
You've got no powers, no info, no nothing. All you now know is that your mum was a quincy and got killed for some reason. where are you now headed to? you've got no way of getting anywhere and no one to take you there, and suddenly they cut to here, where i feel as if they fast forwarded somehow and get a kneeling Asauchi?
I don't even understand that concept, as even Abarai had to fight to prove that he was a worthy shinigami, Ichigo doesn't, and he isn't even a real shinigami but also mixed quincy and hollow? (makes me wonder why he's even able to make use of their methods as if it isn't an issue. 😕
I don't think they'll explain too much about Aizen's experiment, it is interesting as that hollow did resemble Ichigo's hollowfied bankai if i'm correct (but it could've something else i saw).
But alas, this is a comic which is nearing its end, so I'll sit back and enjoy

Haha seriously this chapter
Ichigo just breezes through the whole Asauchi thing in a few panels, another power up ready, and another conveniently hidden bankai.

No he's not dead...probably.
He's a part of his soul so he's not dead unless ichigo dies as well. It's not going to be a new zampakuto rather the old one in a new body...resurrection I'd call it.

Aesthetically, he's dead. he was a very interesting design from the average cookie cutter bishonen kubo likes so much. Now he's just like everyone else. It sucks.

I don't exactly disagree with you, but where do you see a "cookie cutter" bishounen? He/it has a hollow face with the jawbone-thing going on, as well as the skull-grin. No visible lips.
Still, the old man was far cooler.

Well most people are criticizing the sudden developments in the chapter...me on the other hand, pretty happy that the story picked up speed.
We've been screaming reduce-the-panel-size for quite some time now, and voila we have it!
