Do you know how to use IRC

I saw the poll, at first I expected IRC to be first, than I was surprised that Manga Hosting sites were first.
This question is generally to all, do you know how to use IRC?
I do, took me "How to Use IRC" web page and an hour of getting used to. Generally though, Manga Hosting Sites are the last on my list to when I need to get hold of a manga.
My list to use when getting hold of some.
- IRC - Group Channel
- Group Website
- Torrent
- Manga Hosting Sites
These are all electronically given.
I only tend to buy manga when I really like a certain series and prefer to have it at hand.

For me in order:
- group's website
- manga hosting sites/ IRC
I always use IRC as a last resort because it always seem like a hassle to me, but if it's for new releases, then yes.

I figured out how to use the IRC but it slowed down the computer so much I had to take it off.
My head hurts when I use IRC.
Pretty nice to know how to use it though.

I understand it and I can use it for a few things but I never bothered to learn how to download stuff from IRC. I just find it much simply to either download or read it from a site that hosts it. I have considered IRC before but really everything is done so effeciently for most manga hosting sites that I dont have to bother.
I do however get it from the scanlation website if it hasnt been uploaded to any of the hosting sites that I use yet.
I have to say though I am currently considering another go at IRC so I can have access to KMTS scanlations since they only do IRC releases with decent timing and it usually takes a couple days to reach the hosting site from them.

I once tried to figure it out but eventually gave up because I just couldn't understand how to do it.

It's kinda simple once you catch the drift of it.
I've been using it since I was about nine, I think.
I go on #lurk sometimes to get Cat Chan Scan
releases or something, but usually I look at other
hosting sites first.

I get most of my manga off IRC. That said I only know how to use the bots. Trying to use the Fserves just makes me confused. I could figure it out but it doesn't seem worth the effort when the bots work just fine.

Goodness...I'm surprised at how many don't know how to use IRC.
Unless you're behind a router or have some other weird problem, it's dead easy & there are plenty of step-by-step tutorials around. I'll admit to being hesitant to try out IRC at first (I was lured there! ^_~ ) but it took me one session to learn the basics, and that's just about all you need to know (though some of the other stuff is nice, too).
The bots at #lurk are easy to use, fast, and give access to a HUGE amount of manga. Using fserves (in group's channels, usually) can be tedious but really isn't complicated & can be a great way to get new releases. And of course there can also be interesting conversations, depending on the channel (though I tend to NOT read what people say on #lurk >_< ).
