Hello everyone,
I'm writing a paper on the anime/manga fan community for a course I am taking. I have to poll members of the community and was hoping you guys wouldn't mind answering a few questions for me. So here are the questions?

1. When it comes to anime/manga, what kind of information do you seek out? For example, looking up information on the series itself, such as info about the author, or Japanese words or culture, who's scanlating/fansubbing it, or how to obtain the series? Or information could be about conventions in your area, fanart or fanfics. (Or if you're a Sailor Moon fan like me, how to get all the new merchandise)

2. When you seek out information about anime how do you go about it? DIfferent methods might be relying on other anime/manga fans, or using this website.

3.Are there any challenges or frustrations when trying to find out about anime/manga related things?

And that's it! Thanks everyone smile

1. I look for whether the series is licensed/where I can get scanlations. If I liked it, I'll look up the author to see what other stories they've written, and if I really like the author (like Asano Inio) I may look up more information about them or their projects. I'm not interested in fanart/fanfics/merchandise. I'd like to try going to a convention someday, if I happen to be in the right place at the right time.

2. This website or I just look it up on a search engine.

3. No, I wouldn't say so.

1. Usually I look for manga that suits my taste in terms or genre, plot, and also art style. There are some drawing styles that just put me off and stop me from enjoying a story. If there's a manga that I think I may like, I usually google it and search for some sample images to check if I like the art style or not. Sometimes I just go clicking on random manga names in the release page to check them out, even not knowing anything about them. I tend to avoid forum sections where people talk about the manga itself because it may have spoilers. And I hate spoilers. Hate.
Regarding anime, it's pretty much the same, except for the art. I usually go along with pretty much any anime art style.
When I want reviews, I try to go to more "professional" websites. Those usually don't have spoilers.

2. Most of the time, I go to this awesome website. I have some friends who also like anime and manga so, when I can I ask them if they know anything about the series I'm planning to watch/read.

3. Not really because it's very easy to find information about manga and anime. The only thing that leaves me a little frustrated is when there's a manga series that you like and it hasn't been licensed/scanlated or worse, some group started scanlating it and then dropped it. Or is really slow to release. That's awful... Like "Sakurasou no pet na kanojo"

1:I look for official english tankoubon of the manga I want to read. When I find a favourite artist I try to find all the manga they have done. I`m not really interested in scanlations and only read them when its something I want to read extremely much thats not released in english. I`m also always on the hunt for interesting looking manga and have a huge wishlist on here. What I want to read is mostly based on the artstyle.

2: I usually use this website to find new wants and sometimes google.

3: My gigantic wishlist, I know most of it will never be released in english and my japanese is far to bad to comfortably read a series.
