This little bot will help guide you though mangaupdates, tell you of new releases, new forum posts and polls.

Although pretty tiny, this little bot is pretty tough, made outta some of the strongers metals, and don't worry about him getting in the way, as he can fly about looking for new updates through the RSS! Unit 001 only comes in grey/ orange colors, but comes with attachments like a lazar cannon, nice flat screen TV!

Muu the manga cow loves manga so much that it appears on his body! He is made of paper and tons of different manga clips. He may look unassuming but if you aren't careful he will eat your favorite series! He has a face of patience as he waits for the next update on MU.
Every spot has a different manga, fun for a game of recognition!

How it best represents MU: MU-chu is the completely "original" uncopyrighted mascot of MU. He's completely my own creation JUST like scanned manga is completely the scanlators own creation. We didn't just rip it off of somewhere. IT'S ORIGINAL I SWEAR.... (a few weeks later funkmu was arrested on the charges of copyright infringement).

Her clothes are cyber-like, representing the future -- The updates MangaUpdates give to us all. She is portrayd as a friendly, nice girl. Which MangaUpdates is, right?!?!

How you think this best represents manga updates: Well I though of this place as an updating site so a little mechanic came to mind. And was her little carry item she has a screw with her so she can fix and update stuff. :3 And she's like an adorable little manga girl too. You've got you're classic goggles and short skirt, who looks quite adorable, what else more do you need. I was hoping this would also help the site look a bit less feminine. It seems kind of more female based to me with the pastel colors. :/ And Gears could maybe be a bit of a more an active character.

How much effort put into the artwork: The doodle took about 10 minutes (I got the idea off of a picture I did about year ago so I didn't need to think much XD), the outlining took.. an hour or something and the colouring.... err.. longer... >.>.... (I hate my mouse.)

How you think this best represents manga updates: Um.. she's cute, fantastic (as in fantasy), and friendly; what more can I say?
...Well she's in chibi form because MU is all about fun (or at least I think so XD), the different colours of clothing represent the different kinds of manga MU has in its database and I put cat ears, or something resembling them, because people seem to like cat ears (ahaha).

Err well I think that's it... Oh, you can see the 'human form' of her here . Though mind you I drew that a year ago so.... >.> (Oh and it's a big picture so uhh yeah)

umm well Myuu basically represents innocently(ignorantly) happy love for manga...
the whole animation is essentially how i figure manga affected me:
-innocently discovering the love of manga from an unknown source...(?)
-which brings an ominous yet wickedly odd sense of wonder xD (manga=evil as it takes up so much time... yet TT___TT so so good)
-and how mangaupdates brings it all together in a wonderful way which allows me to remain happily in love with manga~ yay!

How you think this best represents manga updates: When I think deep down about "manga," Im reminded of Tezuka Osamu, which is where half of her design comes from. Im fairly new to the site, still I drop by Manga-updates from time to time and feel like i've learned something new about manga which is why I tried to make her look "sensei" like. As an artist myself Im inspired by manga and I believe only through manga that so many variety of stories are possible to be told and shown to the public, and the reason I wanted to make this particular character a manga artist.

12+ hours (It’s too bad all of this time didn’t yield any satisfactory results >_>)

How you think this best represents manga updates:
She’s an android, so this would represent the fact that Manga Updates is a website (technology and such). And being of a technological nature, she is able to access the internet and store up her own personal database (of manga). Thus, similar to Manga Updates itself, she is, in a sense, a library of manga and all information related to such. She is highly influenced by manga and her personality (and sometimes attire) can range widely depending on the manga she is reading. This represents the diversity of manga itself, as well as its readers. And, lastly, she's got the site's color scheme.

How much effort put into the artwork: About 10 hours...alot of rough drafts and editing. Went through about 5 hats. Pulled an all nighter coloring it. All done in Adobe photoshop CS3 with my lap tops TOUCH PAD!!! Mouse is lost and tablet is broken lol...coloring Took a whilllle.

How you think this best represents manga updates: I think he's just cool. He has a sort of Gokudera/Lupin look that i'm sorta prowd of. His style is just very Calm yet thretening...You don't wanna se him smile either..

How much effort put into the artwork: i don't really remember, it took me sometimes to draw something simple, easy and cute at the same time. but i did put a lot of effort in naming it.

How you think this best represents manga updates:ettoo...

first: i have no idea who started it but Mu really sounds like cows so.. yeah the theme of cow is there.
second: rather then a real cow, i opted for the sperm instead. why? because sperm represent the 'seed'; the beginning of everything. besides, seed also represents the tiny little things that together make up for something big, like MU who depends a lot on the scanlators as their seed. besides, in my opinion, a little round cow is cuter, don't you think?
third: the natural expression of Mi is somewhat awed. this explains the "o" shape mouth. it is because, Mi found something new at Manga updates - EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Art/Character Name: The twins

How much effort put into the artwork: I put tons of effort into it. I drew a couple of sketches until I was finally happy with how the characters looked. After that I inked it and scanned it into my computer, After that I cleaned up to image and colored it using many layers. It took a very long time because I didn't change the size after it was scanned. I also colored some of the lines one of many things I tried for the first time. All the things around the characters I added in photoshop I was going to add more but I felt like I was getting carried away.

How you think this best represents manga updates: Since this is an information site I wanted the mascot to be a character who would knows everything there is to know about manga. The twins are suppose to know just about everything what one twin doesn't know the other does that is how the are suppose to be. I decided on the twins because I wanted to represent MU as well as the readers. So why not have manga fans be the mascot?
