Do you use social networking site i.e Facebook, Mixi, Xanga, MySpace and Friendster etc.
I don't mean forums.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills! The people it kills get up and kill!

Yes. I am socially connected to people on the internet.
I am cool because of this. My friend count indicates just how popular I am.
Yes.

I find them to be rediculous. I don't understand why does those site have such a huge popularity...
For me it feels so much like exhibitionism...

It's a yes and a no for me.....i have a friendster but i was forced to make one >_< but personally, i hate them, myspace, bebo..all that crap. Basically, they're just a shortcut for crappy websites...pisses me off...coz some of us had to learn it ourselves.

No. I find them to be a total loss of time, and a 90% of the time they are.
Recommended if you have nothing else to do.

Can't believe no one mentioned it so i will.
Social Networking Websites.....employer often search up their employee or people who are trying to apply on popular Social Networking Websites.......to see what they put up and what they are like on line. Social Networking Websites is the biggest trap and temptation for online predators and potentially dangerous individuals.
Makes me feel like they can't get friends in real life so they have to do it on line in their little virtaul world. Internet exposes their real self as they thought that internet privacy actually exists. Ha!

wow so im guessing the general consensus here is that social network sites are the devil
granted some ppl that take them way to seriously, employers that search up employees, and pedophiles are some pretty suck ass things that go hand in hand with these sites, but theyre not as bad as yall are saying they are
they make it easy to stay in touch with ppl far away. and facebook is pretty much required to get in touch with ppl in college in the states if you dont have their phone number("hey just facebook me"), and are just fun to mess around with granted you dont base your life on it.
i mean its pretty much just a forum with a hell of alot of bells and whilstes

I use myspace. I'm completely addicted. Actually, I have another window open to it now.
I only friend people I know in real life, though, so I don't become another internet-caused teenage rape case.
that most definately wouldn't be fun.

I don't.
And recently we have this new tradition on our local anime irc-channel to read some blogs of different... how do I put it... silly humans. Reading the blogs of spiritually disabled people really makes me feel... superior. And it helps one's digestion.

I use the german aquivalent of facebook. It is annoying that some people use it as a email alternativ, but it really helps get in touch with old friends and people you know, but aren't really friends.
I also use last.fm, which is sort of a mix between a highly advanced radio station abd social networking, but only for musik. It really is great. Check it out.
I also use hospitalityclub.net ( or dot org ) which is also a kind of social networking website. It's main idea is to halp travellers. I have hosted a few people at my place or helped them with some information. I also stayed at some guys house in Ekaterinenburg. It really is a great thing, thats why i added it as my signature. They are pretty uptight with security to stop people from abusing it, so if you want each sent message requires a passport number and will be checked by a volounteer before it reaches you. It really helps making travelling cheaper and instead of staing in hotels with other foreigners you can stay with locals and actually get what the differences are.

I'll have to say "no" for me. I technically was coerced into making a facebook account, but I don't really believe in blogs and that kind of stuff.

I thought I'd elaborate on what I said... Basically I do not believe in social networking websites because I think that the online world should remain anonymous. Real life should remain real life, and online should remain online. If you get in too deep online and just want to start over, then you can. If you get in too deep in real life, you're screwed. You shouldn't have to deal with the attacks on two fronts.
I guess in this way I kinda see the internet as a video game. It's fun to play every now and again, but it shouldn't add stress to your life. When you start to divulge personal data online though, it narrows the gap.
