ETA: Found - 'two' manga actually one, contents the second half of Isaku Natsume's Dash! Kudos to user Sleepy Sheepy for finding it for me!

First time using the forums, I hope I'm doing this correctly. Apologies in advance for any errors (and for long-ish post). I've taken the time to search for the first manga pretty comprehensively now, and aren't sure how to search for the second.

The first manga I can give more description for. It's a bit hazy, I can't actually recall how long ago I read this one, but some of the details came back to me.

The first boy owns a house or apartment of some sort (I believe he lives alone despite being in high school - maybe college). Definitely dark-haired. The second boy might have been a childhood friend (something like that). Light-haired. I can't recall which one was considered the seme or the uke (I think the pale-haired was the uke, but not 100% positive, apologies).

Anyway, the second boy shows up on the doorstep of the first needing a place to stay. First boy lets him stay with him. Second boy has changed a lot since childhood days.
First boy wakes up next morning to find the second boy in bed with him. They didn't sleep together, but the second boy wants to (I think there was a joke (though the pale-haired one might have meant it seriously) about paying rent like that - I don't think he had a job).

First boy rejects him, is a bit embarrassed/frustrated with/concerned for his friend? Don't think he knew he was gay (off the top of my head can't recall if the pale-haired boy had been sleeping around/kicked out/having ex-boyfriend troubles, but that's all possible).
Considering the genre, it was likely they ended up together in the end, but bugger if I can recall. One of the strongest details to me was the dark-haired boy rejecting the pale-haired boy that first time - and I don't think they slept together until much later if they did. Multi-chapter, but don't think it had that many volumes (if it even had more than one). Unless it wasn't complete, though I think it was.

Other random details:

As for as tone, I think it was fairly humorous? Not quite slice-of-lifey, but the guys hanging out got a laugh. It wasn't all out humour, and the relationship was pretty decent? Though that's just how I remember it (curse me, that I can't remember the title then). Featured them at school now and then (I'm fairly certain they were high schoolers, though college is possible. Not sure the pale-haired boy went to school with the dark-haired guy though).

Dark-haired boys friends feature a bit. I think they were all a bit attracted to the pale-haired boy when they finally met him (and I believe this occurred at a cherry blossom viewing/hanami, though the dark-haired boy didn't want the pale-haired one to meet his friends, and told him to be careful with what he said).
Naturally, pale-haired boy didn't do to well at that. I believe he was kind of stoic in an 'airy' sense. Not quite aware of the social implications of what he was saying, or otherwise not caring.

One of his friends had a pretty impressive haircut from memory - the same friend I believe who admits that he wouldn't mind sleeping with the pale-haired guy (which sort of shocks the other friends, but not really since I think they all find the pale-haired guy attractive, much to the chagrin of the dark-haired guy who doesn't want the pale-haired guy sleeping with any of them).

Pretty sure the pale-haired guy doesn't sleep with any of them, though that one friend with the impressive haircut does try.

I think at one point the guys play a game of basketball, though that's not the most important detail (could be mixing it up with something else). It wasn't a plot point or anything, just something the guys did while conversations were had/whatever.

Also, the pale-haired boy continues trying to get into bed with the dark-haired one (though no non-con from memory).

I don't think it was super old. The style, or what I can recall of it, doesn't have that old a feel to it. Not like early 2000s yaoi manga basically. Definitely more 'modern'.

Also, I think the title struck me as odd, but that's pretty subjective. OTL And naturally, I can't remember what the title was so...

There's other stuff that might be in it, but I can't remember clearly, and it's entirely possible my mind is playing mix'n'match with my manga memories here. But I am pretty sure all I've mentioned above was in it. My mind is garbage at titles and delights in useless details (basketball game...)

It's a bit of a long shot, but if anyone recognises any of these details, it'd be a lifesaver. I've typed in a heap of variations in both forum search and manga description search and checked likely categories for almost a month now, and can't find it.

The second manga I unfortunately remember less of. I think it might be one more recently read, so there were a couple I was going to re-recheck. Unfortunately, the one detail I really remember isn't one that would work in the search bars/category search.

What I recall is one of the couple (not yet together, I think) returning to their hometown (or goes somewhere) or something after a falling out. The other guy goes after him (I can't remember if someone else prompts him too, or if he just realises he wants to be with the other guy).

The guy pursuing the other finds him on the roof of his home/old house, I think? And ends up joining him up on the roof for a conversation.

I think it was a bit suburban (the house), by Japanese standards. Definitely at least two storeys? Useless details, but it might jog a memory.

ETA: Other random details: I'm fairly certain the house itself was up a slope of sorts, and the meeting occurred at night time. The roof wasn't flat? (Or rather than Japanese school style roofs, it was definitely more of a house roof).

But yeah, they meet up together on that roof and go home together later.

Like the above, not done in the early 2000s yaoi manga style. Definitely more modern, though there's still plenty of variation there. Can't recall the overall mood - likely a bit slice-of-lifey? Not too much though.

Anyway, if anyone has an inkling of what these manga might be, I'd much appreciate an answer. Been bothering me for a while now. Thanks in advance - and if you think of one that's similar but with a few details different, it might be right (my memory is pretty fallible).

I'm not sure about the first one, but the second one sounds like Mukidashi no Koi

Unfortunately that wasn't it, but it was nice to read in the mean time. Thank you for responding! ^^

Oh! I'm pretty sure you're describing (the second half of) Dash! by NATSUME Isaku.

They aren't childhood friends, they are cousins. The younger cousin said he was kicked out by his parents so he went to crash with his older cousin he hasn't seen since they were kids (childhood friends, essentially.) Like you said, the pale haired one is the uke. The little cousin does meet the older one's friends (the basketball team) at a cherry blossom viewing like you said, and he does joke about sleeping with the kid with dreads.

The weird thing here is I think you might actually be describing the last chapter of this manga as your second series. It does end with them meeting up at their old childhood home after a fight, which is on a slope, on the roof, and at night. They talk out their feelings and go home together.

And as a final note, if we are thinking of the same series you're right that it's quite short, it's just half the volume as the first half is a story about Judo team mates.

Oh my god, that's it. Sitting right under my nose the whole time, gah! It's doubly embarrassing because I re-read Dash! recently but my mind just associates that title with the judo part of the story.

Thanks heaps though! It would've taken me a while to stumble upon the fact 'both' stories was part of Dash! (and the same story) and it puts my mind at ease knowing what it is. ^^ Thank you!
