A few weeks ago I started reading this series called kingyo no fun when I realized that there were only 2 chapters translated. I shrugged it off because translators often abandon manga. But It was really irritating and I couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the week and It just really irked me that NO ONE bothered to translate the rest of the series, like come on. But then again, the jobs probs harder than it looks. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knows a way to contact translators and translating teams personally in order to encourage them to translate another series. Any suggestions?

Look for a credit page. Do they have one? There's usually a website in there that you can go to where they have a contact us page or some even have chat rooms where you can ask. That's if you want to contact the group.

If there's no credit page then as long as the release is on manga updates you can do a web search for the group name and it'll usually come up.

If you want to contact the actual person try looking for a staff list and see if they have contacts or links to the staff. Often times if they have a forum then you can create an account and message them there, just find their name from the credit page and see if they have a corresponding forum account. Keep in mind though that translators can disappear or quit the group, so they might not be translating it anymore.

The group that last released a chapter from that series still has it on their ongoing list, so they haven't actually "officially" abandoned it, and their last release was about a month ago so it's not like they're dead either. Some groups are slower than others. It could also be that they lack staff to continue that series.


Also I may have misinterpreted your post after I finished writing all of this. Did you instead mean you wanted to contact various groups/translators and ask them to pick it up? You could still do something similar, and look at groups on manga updates that have been releasing projects in the similar genre or demographics since some groups focus on specific genres/demographics and try going to their site to suggest it. (A group that focuses mainly on yaoi would less likely consider a shoujo project for example) Though keep in mind some groups won't touch it if the original group that worked on it hasn't officially dropped it, and there are others still that may not pick it up because they already have too much on their plate.

Thx so much for your advice! I don't know why I'd didn't think of looking at the credits before. Anyways, I found out that the translator works for mystic iris, a translation project in pretty familiar with. I didn't realize, they updated so recently, which gives me new hope. Turns out they didn't abandon the manga, they are just extremely slow with releases (which I don't blame, cuz they have a rather small group of translators). However, I will be patient.

I did want to contact other translators to pick up the manga if it was abandoned, which its not, or help out with translations. Often manga's are translated by multiple translators and I hoped I could find someone who could help out. In Fact, I think the manga was partially translated by another group and then mystic iris decided to finish the chapter. But I think I'll just wait till the next release by mystic iris, cuz they seem to be the only ones who care to translate it. Let's hope it won't take another year..

Finding translators is easy. You just have to find the translator den where they sleep.

Genrally speaking, it's considered rude to ask/demand a scanlator team to work on something unless you're willing to help out in said project and probably other projects of whatever group you decide to approach.

As you can see from Mystic Iris's own page, chapter 3 has already been translated but not proofread, cleaned, typeset or QC'ed.

This is why I've turned to complete mangas after reading for years. I have a bunch of mangas I'm still hoping on but if I look for something new, I try to find something complete...try
