Does anyone know where I can order original Japanese manga volumes? An online website would be great

You didn't use Google? Or were you also looking recommendations were good places to shop (good service, prices, and turn-around time)?

They sell them for the original prices. About 420 yen, so they're the best. I highly recommend Bk1 because I've used them before. I don't know about amazon.co.jp, but I hear they charge you a LOT for shipping.

If you can make the trip, you can also check out Bookoff for used Japanese books. It's based in japan but it has a few branches in the U.S. The books are all in good condition and, since they are used, not covered in plastic so you can browse through them before buying. Last time I went there, I was able to find volumes for about $3 a book. That was five years ago though so prices might be a buck or so higher. Still, better than paying $10+ per book. Damn. I sound like a commercial.

I second this, yesasia's pretty good if you can't read japanese, warning though, using the search engine is like look for a needle in a haystack, stick to browsing if you don't have anything specific in mind. They don't charge taxes or handling fees either ^^
I wanna smack them for raising the prices on manga again though.. >o< Oh and they don't carry magazines.. ( Jump, Ribon, etc)

Sasuga Books, not sure about shipping costs, but it's in english at the least. They provide subscriptions to magazines and a usable search button.. ^^;;

It sounds ridiculous now that I add it all together, but I now own almost $100 worth of Japanese manga. The absolute best site I've run into so far is YesAsia.com, previously recommended by someone else. It takes a few weeks for most orders to arrive, but they always arrive safely and in amazing condition.

The best part of it all is the shipping. Where Japanese Amazon can cost up to 30.00 in shipping, YesAsia consistently charges around $3. This makes sense, since the shipping takes forever. If you're willing to wait, it's the best option I've encountered, especially for those who have little money, like penny-pinching college students. ;D It also has a very good selection.

Kinokuniya is your friend. They sell them at the original price and well, shipping isn't too bad, free if you buy over $100. I recommend this place. Doesn't matter if you live in a country that doesn't have a branch there, they ship it to you. (:
Yesasia rips you off sometimes. T__T Like a volume at kinokuniya could be around $4-6 while at Yesasia it's $10 a volume. =/ But Yesasia is convenient if you don't know Japanese or know someone that knows Japanese to help you out at Kinokuniya.

Thanks for the Kinokuniya link. I needed a site that sells Japanese manga, but couldn't find a decent one since everyone charges so much on shipping (I buy them in bunch so it's bound to be heavy).

Just a question, but you are talking about the Japanese site one right, not the US one? I'm taking that they take credit card as payment option?

I second bk1. It's the only place I use to buy Japaneses manga and despite the site being in Japaneses, it's easy to buy from. They also have a point rewards system for discounts and they offer more than just manga.

The Dr. Ten Translation Project has a guide for shopping on www.bk1.jp and includes how to create an account, finding books, shipping rates and checking out. Just be warn, it's a yaoi scan group so don't stray from the guide unless you're prepared.

I primarily use Amazon. I've ordered through bk1 before, but for the cheaper shipping by sea you also have to wait 4-12 weeks longer... depending on when they manage to assemble your list, where you live, if they give a shit, and etc. I'm on week five right now, waiting on my Riichi Ueshiba and Rokurou Shinofusa. I'm hoping it didn't get lost along the way; and it's not insured, so I don't expect to see my money back.

Amazon has a larger selection of manga. There were at least a few times where bk1 didn't have some manga/novels even listed, whereas Amazon at least told me if they had it in stock or not. From my personal experience Amazon has been the easiest to use, and more convenient. But if the shipping and handling is an issue for you (and it does add up), and you're willing to take risks, then I would go with bk1.

YesAsia by far, has the smallest selection... So I've never used them.

I'd also second Sasugabooks, but I haven't used them for like seven years. I hear if you have the ISBN for whatever you're looking for, they'll find it for you. So that's always handy.
