Well, basically, I'm looking for a romance where one of the lead couple is either visually or verbally disabled. With visually, they can be blind, colourblind, etc. sorta like Monochrome World. With verbally (I don't actually know if it's called verbally), they can be mute or just have some trauma that stops them from talking, like Koe ni Naru.
It'd be interesting if this were brought on by the other person and it kinda hindered their relationship or something. It'd be a plus if at the end or somewhere along, they were cured.

PS: Love triangles create angst 😉

Edit: I've come to the conclusion that romance with this kind of theme is quite hard to find so..love triangles, shoujo etc. isn't necessary, though I still would like romance playing an important role.

Eien no with has a blind guy but... there isn't anything like love triangles. However, it's quite a good story.

Concerns a mute girl trying to rise in the chess world. She lost her voice because she witnessed a grisly murder. Sorry.. no love triangle here. She really likes this one other shoji player ^_^ Not totally focused on romance.

She was raped by her stepfather when she was younger, and as a result is very distrustful. The male protagonist (previously a player) falls for her, but is afraid he will reopen old scars if he makes any advances. Angst, love triangle, just missing a sensory handicap.

Why: Angst, love triangle, personal obstacles with love, trauma.

Dogs: Bullets & Carnage Honestly, this only is remotely linked to the post because three out of six of the characters are handicapped ( mute, missing an eye, full on blind). Not really a shojo, but there's angst and chemistry between the two non handicapped characters. And they have issues.

Why: Angst. People with problems. Handicaps. Because i love this manga.
