Haha, I'm only 19, but I got started in this fairly early. I can't say "back in the day" like some of the older guys can, but I can say "eight years ago..." Back when you only had subs on tapes and there were only a handful of scanlation groups around.

subs on tapes? i remember those. There was only one place i could remember that sold them and i think they only sold dragonball z and maybe sailor moon

I've actually been an Otaku over half my life. I had some Japanese neighbors as a child, and thats what started it.

I guess I was lucky, in that aspect. Lets see, I was around 8 or 9 when that happend.

Been into anime (excluding the robotech/astroboy stuff as a kid, since I thought it was simply "smart cartoon") since I was 11-12 though, when Ranma mangas just hit N.A.

though I have been watching anime since I was still in Hong Kong when I was five, not that I remember much of it except like this purple haired girl with a piece of turd that was a running gag I believe..... IQ professor or something like that

Been into manga for about 2 years now.
What got me started: Dragonball manga, Love Hina manga, Naruto anime

I was always fascinated by anime/manga, but it was only til 2 years ago I found out I had easy access to them.

I'm 22, and still in college. I need to get the heck out of here.....

and that neighbor used to hook us up with toys. remember once he gave us a trash can full of toys @_@ had all the transformers toys and i do recall having them godzilla toys and a bunch of other mess but it all burned down... *sighs* brothers burned down the back house when they were playing with hair spray and matches <_< and i believe i was probably younger when i started watching anime but that's cause my brothers used to watch it. but i didnt really get majorly into anime and manga till say like 5-6 years ago when bro got dsl and i was able to leech a whole mess of stuff <_< >_>
