Shinji Wada was a Japanese manga artist born in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan.

An old-style action mangaka, his main characters are women and for female audience. Debuted in 1971 in Margaret and best known for the creation of the Sukeban Deka franchise. When Hakusensha published Sukeban Deka in 1979, Wada's work became very popular. He was commissioned to create the OAV series and a TV series that spawned three seasons, including two live-action movies. In 2007, he involved in live-action Sukeban Deka: Codename = Asamiya Saki starring pop idol MATSUURA Aya.

Passed away in Tokyo on July 5, 2011 due to ischaemic heart disease.

He studied under SUZUKI Mitsuaki at Bessatsu Margaret Shoujo Manga School.

Friends with TAKACHIHO Haruka, YAMADA Mineko, MIUCHI Suzue, TAKEMOTO Izumi and AZUMA Hideo.

Among his assistants there were SHIBATA Masahiro, HAYASAKA Miki and Ranmaru.
