This week's poll comes from the mind of SilverStripe. For those of you that read romance, how much drama do you like in it? Very subjective... I mean, how much is too much? Yes, I do realize that not everyone wants to read about romance.
This week's poll is more about the comments and examples than the results. So discuss the poll on our forums here:

The old generation has gone away. The new has taken its place.
PS: It's Christmas Eve! In case I forget to write a post for Christmas (which is possible), then Merry Christmas~
PSS: For all scanlation groups that wish to have MangaUpdates announce their release on Christmas day, please realize that we will not artificially change the date of your release. The time/day you report the release to us will be the day it will be announced here. With that said, the website is currently running on MST (Mountain Standard Time), but it's actually on PDT, as the servers run on Pacific time but they haven't adjusted for Daylight Savings...
I'm just going to link to an editorial by Adam Savage (of MythBuster fame). These laws are no good in their current form. I recommend that you find out for yourself what these laws are about, and why they are bad for the internet community. I believe the congressional hearings will start again on the 21st, and they will be streamed.

Edit: I also thought this Stanford Law Review article was informative:

Edit 2: I guess they're waiting till early January to continue the hearings? We'll see.
This week's poll is from our member icassop. IRC = Internet Relay Chat. In today's day and age of online readers, IRC has taken a huge hit in membership, so what's your position on IRC? (And personally, I don't really use it anymore.)

This week's poll comes from our member ChocoKun. Basically it comes down to how much do you pay attention to the art style. Of course, it's a little generalized (as there are manga's that have a manhwa art style), but hey, it's an interesting poll!

Close to 1000 people already own an e-book reader. Well, I have been wanting to get a Kindle...

This poll was suggested by icassop. Assuming you want to read manga legally (one huge assumption, right?), what would you do if it only appeared in an e-book format?

Their leader, vteck9 wrote in the forums:
"Ala Atra Scans is closing down effective immediately.
The plain and simple fact is that we just don't have any active staff, even the forum is dead.
Nagasarete Airantou is being taken care of by Vortex-Scans.
Cahe is still up in the air and open to anyone that wants it.
It has been a fun three years but all things have their time.
Let us not focus on the fact we are closing but on what we have done, what we have accomplished.
It has been fun and I will never forget my time with the group.
Farewell and good luck.
Untill our paths cross again."*

This one hits home since I actually worked for them for a few years (before the whole yuri phase). Cya, Casusby. (And thanks for the shout-out on your news post. It was a good time with you guys.)
This poll from MewMan is slightly vague, but oh well. Interpret it how you like. Also could use more choices, but it's past midnight right now and I don't have that creative mood right now...

The poll wasn't as specific as I would liked it to have been (now that I can look back into the past). Needed to break down English as more choices...
PS: In other news, late thanks for manga in honor of Thanksgiving!
