Description
Sana Kurata, a child actress, faces many problems in her classroom, including a major one - her bullying classmate, Akito Hayama. Sana's outgoing and friendly nature leads her to work towards correcting all of the problems around her. Her 'meddling' irritates Hayama but at the same time captivates him, just as Hayama's gloomy nature irritates Sana and compels her to change him. As these two opposites attract each other, they face many hardships which bring them closer to a mutual understanding.

Hmm.. I love the depth Obana-sensei went into when she created this manga. At first it was a cute, and ridiculously funny tidbit, but it grew to be much more, that really made me want to glomp onto the series and never let it go.

I am not a kid between 8 - 11 any more (what a pity! bigrazz hahaha, must have lost so much fun back in my childhood  ) but I really enjoyed reading this manga. maybe it doesnt look like but it is pretty serious and deep story in some parts and it has been drawn very well too. however if you don't like Shoujo stuff, you wont enjoy this story that much since the romance factor plays a very important part in it.

Art (10%): 8
The art is regular shoujo art but every character is cute so that is a plus. I like how you can tell the difference when Sana is acting and when she isn't. The art also fits the comedy style for the manga.

Story (40%): 10
What I like the most about the story it can have you laughing at one moment and crying at the next (although it usually isn't sad). The relationship between Akito and Sana can be described as cute but at the same time, it goes deeper. They both love each other to the point of dependency but you don't really see this until later in the manga. The story is adorable and although it has some deeper moments, it is a good light read.

Character (40%): 10
Sana and Akito are more than meets the eyes. Sana seems like a hyperactive girl (and for the most part, she is) but she is also darker than she seems. Akito seems like he doesn't have a care for the world but we later learn that he does (I don't want to spoil it). I also like how the character develops especially Akito.

Enjoyment (10%): 10
This is one of my first manga that I have read so I might be bias but I really enjoyed it.

Total Score: 9.8

Seriously, this is like one of few mangas which makes me get so addicted i can't even sleep. I am dying to read it again and again! it's so good that i don't think a manga can get better than this! all the characters are so good and cute and perfectly developed. the plot and art are also superb. this is definitely one of my top favourites. i mean few mangas can make me tear up. the story is very unique and lots of things i didn't expect to happen. There are so many emotions involved! The BEST Manga!!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Everything was so sweet!! Its got so much about life and its meaning. Thats what makes it so good!

Not many manga get me to laugh, but Kodomo no Omocha really just seems to hit my funny bone constantly through every single chapter. I'm happy I was recommended this title, because I had started it several years ago from a few volumes they had at my local library. I was a kid then, but I still enjoyed the series. I'm struck with awe and shock that I was able to run into it again (thanks to StarlightDream!). At least this time I knew about online sources on where I could read the entire series!

One of the letdowns I had with the series was that a lot of the pages missed translations. It seemed to occur in every single chapter. But that's not the author's fault. I read it off of OneManga, so I highly recommend you find a different source to read this series.

Easily one of the best mangas that I have read. I laughed, I cried, and Kodocha now holds a precious place in my heart.

After getting off the "Fushigi Yuugi" phase back in 5th-6th grade (now entering 10th), I picked up Volume 8 out of no where because the cover looked adorable. A girl sipping her pop and a hot yet serious-looking boy in a cap standing next to her made me think that this is probably a cute manga to read. After the first page, I felt stupid that I didn't pick up the first volume but the art drew me in so I kept on flippin the pages. I knew nothing about the manga however, I finished it even though I was confused. The next day, I went back to the bookstore and bought Volume 2, 3, 4 and so on. (They didn't carry Vol 1 XD) I'm so happy that I picked up Kodocha out of curiousity! The story is overflowed with humor and tragedy. Sana-chan and Akito-san were in the same grade as I was so you know I felt happy that a mangaka decided to draw her characters in elementary school <3. I've read countless manga's since then and I must say, this will always be my favorite. No matter how old I get, I can always open Vol 2 and laugh my butt off then end the series with eyesockets full of tears. I admire Obana-sama so much after finishing Kodocha. Akito's story inspired me to live <3

A complete rollercoaster of feelings

I'm going to be honest and say that when I saw the anime, I was not a fan. Yet, when I picked up the manga, I couldn't put it down. The characters, though very mature at some points, perfectly display what it means to grow up. I just love their depth, struggles and intense feelings. Those feelings, though easy to change due to age at first, are immature yet strong at the same time as they developed.
The plot was also really well done. I loved the conflicts that came up, showing off the weaknesses of the characters and the child/ coming of age theme that was in this manga. The whole thing was awesome and a lot deeper than what the anime was like.
Also, I loved the balance between humour and sad points. The storyline, for the most point, was depressing the whole way through, yet the author balanced it with the humour and lightness that only children can posses. It is a shoujo classic for a reason. Freaking brilliant and I just loved it!

Kept me from boredom

I liked it, not for anything but its childishness. The portrayal of childish innocence through the maturity of the characters kept the manga from getting dumb. The growth of the characters seems a little premature (I definitely did not gain that kind of insight at that age) but it's what made the manga a more... touching--so to say--read.
It was simply a lighthearted manga that was warm and fuzzy at the end, for me anyway. It wasn't spectacular, but the romance and characters were lovable most definitely.

At first , I thought that the storyline wouldn't be anything special since the characters are quite young (yeah, kids.) But, as I continued reading it ... you can really see the characters growing and changing... I like Sana. She's strong, cheerful and well, she doesn't seem to be your normal typical shoujo.

The author did a great job in this. I could feel all the emotions that the characters felt. The story is great and there are parts that can make you laugh (ok, at least a smile xD) and there's a certain part that made me super sad with a little tears in my eyes.
[maybe i'm just too emotional. haha~]

It's amazing to see how Hayama coped with all the stuff thrown at him. I wouldn't know what to do if i'm him.

Oh, did I mention that the art was GREAT too?
Despite being a 1994 manga, the art in it was super nice~ comparing it to other 1994 manga, I would rate this 5/5.

It's a must read!!! biggrin
