I missed this kind of artstyle!I've always liked historical - fantasy BLs so it's a HUGE plus!There are just some scenes that made me uncomfortable. It would've been fine if the author just pushed it to "shounen-ai or softcore BL" .Some s*x scenes sorta just made me uncomfy most especially if it's non-consensual!!!! Nonetheless, the plot is REALLY INTERESTING and most of all, there is ACTUAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT which I'm always looking for whenever reading any BLs!

Not sure which "lovey dovey cute" manga you are all reading, but the protagonist gets graphically raped by the love interest in the first chapter and it's not adressed - in fact it gives some slapdash explanation of "taking magic by raping into submission", of course not worded like this. This might be the grim and terrible time of 2000s BL where consent is an afterthought and everyone is blinded by the "pretty art and beautiful character design". BL blatantly showing rape and not handling it as such is a gripe I have had with the genre forever, it's getting better, but early BL is overrun with this trope.

If you are fine with that, go ahead, for everyone else, skip it.

No, seriously. I actually recommend this manga. The art is beautiful, I love most of the characters, the sex is hot, and the story...eh. I will admit, the rape is a bit much, but any inner sick, twisted Yaoi fangirl made me over look it.

But...this shouldn't be Yaoi. No, what I mean by that is, it should've been a shounen-ai. I find the sex to be a bit...overblown. It would've been better if there were tiblets of fanservice here and there. Though overall, read this manga, you will not be disappointed.

"Manly Gay Couple"? Really? Yeah, if you consider the main character cross dressing and his seme looking like a female Sephiroth, then yep, MANLY! XD

I keep getting the feeling that this is less popular than Viewfinder because it doesn't get as much attention. It's a pity since I love this series more than Viewfinder. It's so rare to find a yaoi that's both long, and a fantasy story AND has an interesting plot (with LOTS of smex) It has the beautiful art that comes with a Yamane Ayano story and that heart pounding quality. Sure you can nitpick with no effort but it's fun and that's why I love it.
Some people may feel like Lizisis and think there's rape. The question I'd ask to gauge your feelings is: "If someone has sex with one personality of someone who has a split personality while the other personality is not aware, is it rape?" Your answer to this question might not even affect your enjoyment of this story anyway since the manga has a light and comedic atmosphere most of the time. It's the reason why I'll be able to re-read Crimson Spell as much as I want but I have no desire to re-read Viewfinder (which in my opinion REALLY pushes the non-con limit in the beginning)

Is everyone blind? How can people say this is a nice romance when it all started with rape? Even worse, the guy keeps raping Val while he's unconscious until he eventually finds out. Is this what people call romance these days?

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the genre, but I am simply not a yaoi fangirl in the slightest. It's just not my thing. (i'm also not particularly fond of the fact that most yaoi relationships are just plain abusive in my opinion)... I stumbled on to this series from a fanart and I noticed that yes it was a yaoi, but there was actual character development and an interesting enough plot and so I kept reading. I have to say... I LOVE this series. I wouldn't say I'm in any way converted to becoming a yaoi fangirl, but I love this story, I love these characters and I love how realistic the relationship is. It's not one of those "everyone is gay" yaoi stories that just really don't make sense to me. It's much more real. The main character struggles with his sexuality but it doesn't define him, he's his own person and has his own story and his own quest, and the fact that he's in love with a man adds to the layers of who his is, and THAT is how this kind of story should work. That is what most yaoi I've been introduced to and never loved has been greatly missing.

Not exaggerating. Honestly, the art is HEAVENLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The alter ego, slow romance..the story line was just fantastic!

I wasn't keen on reading it at first because of Yamane's previous work, View Finder. It was so violent that I had given up hope on this author. My friend suggested this one and god bless her, I came across the manga with the best art ever! I mean it coz I have read close to a thousand mangas, heck I was born to read mangas

I judiciously check for new updates every now and then, I really hoppe they speed it up, can't wait for more!

SERIOUSLY! This was the first yaoi I read (probably not that best to start with but what can you do?) but this made me love the genre. This will always be my favorite manga, not just yaoi. It has everything, but read it for yourself to know!

ookay just finished reading all of em and... OMG.. that's just HOT HOT like HELL!! just the way i like it. it seems that the story is still... far from finish judging from the latest chapter that i read ( 34) and....i reeealllyyy hope that this is ended up happy for Val and Hall O__O really want to see the end of the manga....GREAT STORY!!!
