Decent enough to read

Kinda cliché and not the best out there, but while I wasn't spellbound, it was funny at times. Of course the idea isn't really original, this is based on an old folktale, there are spin-offs EVERYWHERE in every shape and form. So many stories parody it that I couldn't possibly count them all. The main attraction isn't the romance, it's the comedy. He's quite the pervert and unlike so many other japanese protagonists, he's completely unflustered and also not worthless at all. Still, he felt a bit artificial exactly because of this at times, like he's just there to joke around.

The start was the best part, I feel like it gradually lost attraction the longer I read. Partly because of the overdone gags essentially just repeating several times every chapter, it gets old when the same situation is told over and over again in slightly different scenarios. I feel like the author didn't really want to try making the story more interesting, there were plenty of interesting characters but most were just used once or twice and then promptly disappeared like a one-time gag. His father that seemed really fun didn't turn up at all until the last chapter and in flashbacks(not in a speech scene or anything, just standing there) and so many fun situations was missed as the author refused to move from his comfort zone of repeating the same tired gags all the time. His childhood friend just got a chapter or two and while being really hyped, she just disappeared, the cross dresser just got a chapter or two and then popped up every once in a while to say one thing before disappearing, the mother and sister was barely present even after returning, just being there for one chapter featuring them. Seriously, this had the potential to be awesome but while everything was introduced properly, he just tossed them away like garbage right afterwards.

Even the ultimate "plot" ending was lacking impact to say the least. He tried to make some background story but it was clearly just a chaotic mess. Then the typical "succeeded but didn't now there's a sad end but let's change that at the last page". Also made no sense that one person became a goddess. This was another crappy point, nothing is really explained at all, as if the author does his utmost to not think things through, just thinking "ah, it would be fun if this happened" yet doesn't want to justify it. I for one want to know more in detail the background story and even more so why and how that person became a goddess. So many plot holes that it puts swiss cheese to shame.

I was going to rate this 7/10 but after pondering and looking back on what I just read, I can't justify giving it more than 6/10 and that is only because scores tend to be inflated. I did find the main character a fun one and the gags made me laugh a fair amount of times, but that's it for this story.

I absolutely love this series despite several negative opinions. Although, I must confess that this series have minor drawbacks like 1st 3 episodes shows that the main protagonist are bullied constantly by surrounding girls (remind me of real life situation though). But hey, all the hardships gone through by main protagonist does not gone waste. This kind of hardships-bear-fruit kind of manga really widen my very-own perspective. Keep it up Sensei!!

I aint gonna give ya too much crap for your opinion of these series @Cgmf07, buuuut...
This is not an "original idea" that's been picked up. Glitter dolls, as an example I remember well, was a two-shot Hentai that had the same premise, instead though with a main character that drops his sex doll in the river, and gets two new ones back that happen to come to life and are of course smoking hot babes.

But all that info aside, I really can't stand the dynamic going on. Main character's in love with the heroine, yet because she's essentially a princess that's forbidden from interacting with boys, MC gets beaten up all the time by her personal bodyguards. And that's my biggest gripe with this series: How annoying these side characters are that keep beating up the main character and treating him like the scum of the Earth, never considering the feelings of the girl they're protecting. Meanwhile even though the (two) main heroine(s) seem to like him, both just as well beat him up for getting into the typical "lewd situations" he never intended on getting himself into.

I'd argue to go and read Uwagaki for a more interesting premise of how the "heroine gets split up into two different bodies that are nearly identical," yet instead of MC having to choose one over the other, both of her selves have to figure out which one's love is stronger, be it for her current boyfriend or the MC. While yes, it's a short read (that I'll actually go and finish now real quick), it's definitely better to pick up, rather than follow along the painful misadventures of this twat...
