From MangaHelpers:
Scientists predicted an imminent meteor impact on Earth that would annihilate civilization, but contrary to their prediction, the meteor missed Earth. Though avoiding immediate destruction, humanity found that the meteor left behind something in its wake, something that would change the course of civilization forever: a new form of bacteria that ate through all known metals.
Facing this new era where all metals turn to ash, Jinkichi and his classmates will have to survive with little help from the Japanese government. Some of his classmates have already begun to understand ... More...

Premise with holes?

Although I do agree that the premise has holes, I also disagree with some of the comments below. It is enough if the "bacteria" corrode the metallic form of iron (i.e by rapidly oxidizing it), why should metal compounds be affected? Its not like it "destroys" iron atoms on subatomic level. It more likely speeds up its corrosion (which, considering bacterial enzymes is more believable than you think). Iron in our bodies is in a form of organic compound, therefore should not be affected. Human body can last years without any external iron supply, because our internal iron stocks (ferritine) is so large. Not to mention, there should now be rust and iron waste everywhere around. By being turned to dust, it's even more likely to enter our bodies. As for the beams in the buildings? If they're within the concrete, how does the bacteria get inside? Teleportation? Buildings should last surprisingly long before corroding, but I agree, they should eventually crumble. As for the holes... mere paint with some antiseptic mixed in should technically prevent the corrosion, but hey, its just manga, not a scientific paper written by a chemistry laureate
Additionally, holes in the idea is something I am willing to forgive, considering I have yet to read a post-apocalyptic story that has no holes in its premise. From what I have read so far, the main characters are likeable, not a whiny cowardly MC that I am used to in such stories. It is too early for me to give definite rating. It does go with the author's usual tropes and themes (as mentioned below) but so far I am not overly dissappointed.

The premise has holes in it big enough to fit an I-beam in...

...which is part of the problem. Few or none of those buildings would be standing. I-beams are just one type of metal support out there, too.
Not to mention, our blood has iron in it, which carries oxygen to the brain! My self-sworn sister (yeah, I got one IRL, and no, we met, etc. IRL, not WoW) is actually fighting a disease that's baffling the doctors: iron *injected* into her blood disappears in a week except for a very, very low level. It's not anemia. It's way worse, and involves other systems. So far no diagnosis.
So you see, I *know* what someone with dangerously low levels of iron looks like and what they are capable of. And even if the bacteria didn't attack human blood iron, by attacking all the other iron around, people couldn't get enough dietary iron and would start to have difficulty thinking and moving.
I'm not going to rate it yet, but the mangaka's gonna hafta come up with a hella lotta spackle to fill those holes and the other ones I haven't even touched on.

The story is original and it progresses well but it still features some of this author's flaws (i.e. all the nice people looks good and have defined visual traits ; evil guys are ugly and have a generic evil face all the time).
Be warned however that every now and then some evil ugly guy will come up with this idea to rape the main girl... and that's kind of a tired if you ask me.
