This story is rather unusual for Japan, where women's feelings aren't really addressed publically. On the one hand there is the sentiment that a "strong willed" woman deserves being knocked down a few pegs and on the other hand there is the commonality of public embarrassment.
Ogura san appears to be coming down on the side of the women, that no one deserves to be pubically humiliated no matter what. She also makes a strong statement against the indifference of the male cops towards the women who were vandalised, assaulted and humiliated.
