Average reincarnation story
by TheIro
March 14th, 2016, 7:02pm
Rating: 5.0  / 10.0
As some commentators pointed out, the novel was pretty good in the beginning but later the quality dribbles off. It seems the writing becomes dumber as if the author didn't put as much effort into it. Like the cringe-worthy Rifleman's creed, or the awful decisions of the characters, or some of the more unbelievable plot points. The fairly good initial character development of the love interests also level off as they get sidelined into one-dimensional sidekicks later on.

Been a fantasy novel about guns, I suspect it was suppose to appeal to military otakus what with its overuse of military acronyms and info dumps on various guns. However while the author might of done their research initially, as you progress through the vols he starts getting the facts and physics of various modern weapons mixed up. These things are not really even needed for the plot, but you know, if you're going to be spending so much time info dumping, you should at least get it right. Nothing is more silly than having some person confidently stating bs as facts.

Aside from the cringe-worthy stuff, there are some fairly entertaining moments here and there. So this novel is not a bad read if you turn off your brain and have some time to kill, just know that there are better reincarnation novels out there.

Good in beginning but I feel a lack of interest going through up and after chapter 63... I am not sure what it is. I feel like this has similarities to Mushoku Tensei but just is a sub par version of it. I dropped off but if I feel like it I may drop by to see how it is again.

It started out decent but then it went bad quick. The mc is kidnapped, made into a slave, and tortured. But he does not even try to escape, he simply accepts it.

It is pretty bad.

Not bad, the story is quite nice.
I always liked to see what gives the appearance of modern technology (guns) in a medieval fantasy world.
It is not worth a Gate, mushoku ... but it reads rather easily.

FYI, compared to novel paper (for those wishing to acquire the illustrations):
Vol 01: chap 1-14
Vol 02: chap 15-37
Vol 03: chap 38 -...

The First Volume had me hoping, only to end up in a butler slave whatever crapfest by volume 3 end.
The random tangents only serve to cater to a specific fujoshi niche, most everyone else will find better reincarnation novels to read by japanese authors in the dozens, translated even ...

Nothing bad about the story and male and female characters (& story )are pretty easy to understand ,and you can whole heartedly hate the villains smile So even if it's part of a genera you've seen it at least can't be said ithat you can't enjoy something that feels familiarwink
Yep I like it ...
(spoilers bigrazz )oh ya the whole best freiend suicide due to bullying (and abandonment on the part of MC) which leads to shut in who ends up (years later ) getting killed by same bully kind of sucks but MC feels like he deserves it so ...ya

Reasons to like or hate this (trying to be fair)

Ok after reading the comments it didn't seem like something I would like. However after reading the the translated chapters I found it to be different from all the bad comments here. Now that I have said that I will try to give a fair evaluation of the WN.

Here are some of the reasons that it might not be for you.
First off this has a harem, if you don't like stories with harem's then you won't like this (the title even says so). Next would be that this is a reincarnation story so if you don't like that or hate it as some have commented do then this not for you. The main character does have memories from his past life so his mental age is greater that his physical age (since he is reincarnated this should be a given) and so far the girls around him are around his physical age no where near his mental age, if you don't like this concept then you might not like this.

Here are some reasons why you might like this.
The MC is not OP, if anything he is average. He makes up for this with his knowledge from his previous life. So far
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
he has not shown that he is controlled by his lust and thinks of the future of his childhood friend.
He was an otaku but also had I real job.

These are just some of the reasons to like or hate this web novel. Honestly it seems that only the one's that hate it have commented on it. The characters are not super deep but are made so that this comes off as a light read. If I have one major complaint it is that the author goes into too much detail with the guns.

Hope this helps

Boring, weak characters, filled with cliches and a waste of time.

BAD! That one word sums up this laughable excuse for a novel. The MC is a weak gun obsessed looser. the setting is boring, the flow of the story is language and sub par, the side characters are even weaker and the female romance lead was a 10 year old girl by the time I dropped this series. If I were to die at the age of 30, reincarnate with full memories, would I fall in love with a 10 year old as a 40 year old? Nah, just pure BS. Unless you actually are reborn without any memories, you don't do that, well, unless you are a lonely pedophile from the start. The only ones that could even like this pile of dung, are people in the same position as the male lead. Seeing all these "reincarnation" into other worlds as a super powerful hero novels that have skyrocketed in popularity, makes me loose faith in humanity. While a there are a few pretty good and highly entertaining novels in this genre out there, this one is not. Shifting through all these crap novels to find a few grains of gold is hard work, so my advise is just don't bother with this one and move one to something better. Try something like Douluo Dalu if you want a good reincarnation story. It is everything this one is not, in a good way.

The main problem with the Japanese form of this genre, are the atrocious male leads. They are just worthless, spineless, uninspiring losers who gets a new chance, this time with OP superpowers, and a harem of girls for no apparent reason. Then again, the weak, looser archetype male leads in anime, mangas and LN's, has been longstanding problem and is slowly killing the industry imo.

Ok, that might be a bit harsh, I understand the appeal of novels like this. I too liked fantasy novels in this vein, when I was around 13 and didn't know any better. I highly doubt the western readers of this series are in their early teens though.

Its good something to look forward to

Seriously whats wrong with other people
Its good not heavy nor light.. The mc is well balance not your typical OP Mc.
Although I can't see the harem part but still that's ok.
The twist was interesting it one of those I didn't see that coming and when it arrive it has impact.
I agree that the GUN part is rather annoying the story doesn't really need that if possible can it be erase it ruining the story as a whole.
Still since his a gun otaku it can't be help but then again for crying out loud stop wasting pages just explaining gun history and how to create one.
As the story goes deeper I want to guess that the gun part well be destroyed seriously I hope the Gun won't be mentioned again is really useless.
If it was a magic GUN with unusual effect then I have no complain.
But to make real guns in a fantasy base world theres a limit in how it should be presented.
Still its one of my looking forward to read in the future.

So far so good

I read chapters up to 26. I was expecting it to be worse based on the comments here (and the character design), but it turned out to be decent enough. Truth to be told I was very reluctant to pick the series up because of the cover art (I dare say I don't like the character design).

It's another of the tensei web novels, so it's very similar to Mushoku Tensei. Mushoku Tensei is better than this one in most aspects (plot character and whatnot), but this one is still enjoyable (and MC isn't as much creepy pervert as Rudeus). In some ways this series is similar to generic harem LN, but the romance still appears to be more developed and ecchi less explicit.

This series has few twists of it's own. MC has no cheat abilities, so he starts developing guns to make up for that. However I have one issue with it. MC solves too many obstacles in the gun development using one magical substance (magic liquid metal). It makes sense that MC makes the gun parts out of it, but it's far too convenient to be able to make ammo using it too (rounds are made from 4 or more substances in real life and each one has different properties). It would feel less cheap if the MC had to make ammo the old fashioned way.

If you liked tensei novels or/and are gun otaku, you might enjoy this series.

Edit: The first few volumes were part of a bigger story, but I lost all interest after the elf arc.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
MC collecting wives didn't seem appealing for some reason.
