Description
Once there was a warrior from the noble class who tried to overthrow the court. He failed and died. His wife was taken and married off to his enemy, and his three sons were fostered in different monasteries. These sons, each gifted in the arts of war, grow up and seek to destroy the men who killed their father. But sibling rivalry and jealousy are more dangerous than the battlefield. The youngest brother, a delicate beauty in the bedroom and a demon on the battlefield is particularly vulnerable. Will he ever find comfort and love, and with who?

very, very, very beautiful art; amazing reproduction of clothing and armour.

but do yourself a favour and read up on the history before reading this, because otherwise you're not gonna understand the half of it; it is so compressed. and from the presentation in the first two (long) chapters i don't think the rest of the tankoubon will shed more light (i've ordered it since i can't find a raw online to check).

I don't think that this story has two parts only. I saw the raw be x boy gold magazines that i have on my folders and it seems like that there are more of the story. I can't read japanese, however, the same author and the characters that are drawn are similar to this story. Right now, I can't be sure 100 percent if it is the same story, however, if it is; I can say that the brother is fully a bastard that he can get someone to have sex with his brother.

You get the idea... a whole, complex life compressed in two chapters.
So fast that the manga is basically a sequence of moments in the life of Yoshitune.
"If you do something, do it right." This is what I think, thus I believe this manga was better not done. You simply CANNOT do right to Yoshitune's life by making a two chapters long manga. So you better not do it at all.
Because there's no time to show the depth and the complexity of the characters, the political background is just hinted at, and events that took months or years to happen are cramped into one page.
It's a pity because the art is beautiful and the story/legend was worth a longer manga.

Japanese legend

This is the legend of Yoritomo, Yoshitune, Benkei (for those who would like to read the complete legend, search these names on Google). I'm glad I knew the legend from other sources because I could follow the manga better. As others said, the story it's pretty confuse but the art is wonderful, one of the most beautiful mangas I ever read. I really loved it.

Very pretty art though...

Very pretty art though I found it a very confusing adaption of a historical event. Some of the scenes were rather random and abrupt and the pacing was rather dicey. Had it been properly fleshed over a volume or 2, the story might not have suffered so greatly.

So if you're looking for eyecandy, yes this is it but if you're looking for a story with at least some depth, there're the works by say... Mizukami Shin and others to consider.

Beautiful artwork but so sad... If you can stand the angst and the complete loss of innocence, though, I recommend you read this one.

It’s not that often you see armour drawn in such accurate manner (and o-yoroi at that), overall it's not a bad story, kinda typical and angsty.

8 because of the attention to the detail
