Description
This is a compilation of manga essays originally published on Pixiv. It's the personal story of an aspiring mangaka: a 28-year-old college dropout who's led a lonesome, unfulfilling life and who has never had sex or even allowed herself to think about sex outside of reading BL. For many years she's been on the path to self-destruction until she realizes that she needs to begin truly living before it's too late. So, on a whim, she solicits the services of a female sex worker.

Really relatable for anyone who's been depressed and feeling aimless, but it's told with humor and self-awareness. I hope the author's thriving. They seem very fun!

The art is minimal, but very cute. The cover is a good idea of the level of detail overall.

Honestly this is wonderful work. I've seen few works with realistic depiction of mental health and this one is among them. I'm really tired of manga artists like Asano Inio using mental issues as an edge to the story. This manga is so real I cried through all the chapters.

So intense

The mangaka talks about how she wanted to bare her soul in a narrative work... and I think she succeeded in doing so. In fact, she doesn't just bare her soul in this manga, she presents an incredibly insightful analysis of her own psychology. She also talks about things that will make you slightly uncomfortable. Like, finding her mother's boobs attractive. That kind of thing.

The reason I loved this manga was because she DOES talk about things that make people uncomfortable, such as mental illness and self harm. She talks about them in a way that is direct and real, but also a little bit self-deprecatory and humorous. I've never had an eating disorder or crippling anxiety, but I found myself relating to some of her descriptions of social interactions, and what it feels like to fail in social interactions. Even though it's been awhile since I read it, I keep thinking about this manga. I was rather moved after I finished the whole thing, and my mind kept going back to all that she lived through, and the unusual points she had brought up about sexuality and relationships. The story is intense -- all the more so because it is real -- but I highly recommend it!

First thing I have to say is, this is not a fiction but a non-fiction, a biography. I went a bit of 'wtf' after reading around first 5 pages until when I realized this feels like a biography and only to be right about it after looking this up.
Because this was a biography, or an autobiography to be exact...just don't have any expectations from your regular shojo or shounen manga, it's not like that. It took me a solid 10 minute or so to re-adjust my mindset that I wasn't reading any fiction, but nonetheless despite being uninterested much during the first 10 minutes, I didn't drop it because some points related to me.

Long story short because it was relate-able, it was a decent read. A lot of things were obviously real and in a weird way, it gives you another insight on how people's daily lives might be like in Japan.
