I have no idea what's going on with the plot/story anymore so as of now I'm just reading it only for the first 3 main characters interaction especially the MC.

New update: 24/1/2024..as of latest chapter, it is starting to get interesting. Our boy is getting a romantic development.

Good first 5 volumes then garbage

I wish I would have just dropped the whole series after the 5th volume. Instead I dropped it after the 13th ... better late than never I guess

The story starts out interesting enough: balancing a medium sized cast pretty well by giving them all a combination of positive and negative traits and putting them in situations where they compensate for each-others weaknesses and share their unique perspectives. Combine that with a world with interesting fantasy conflict and you got yourself a really solid start.

After volume 5 the cartel arc starts and everything that was good falls apart:

Instead of interesting fantasy conflict now you have an arc longer than all before it that is just a surface level allegory for South American drug cartels where the characters directly say "Oh, isn't this just like the drug trade in South America?" multiple times each freaking volume for multiple volumes. The story doesn't work as "text" with side character actions and goals making little sense and it does not work as "subtext", being an extremely dumbed down, extremely superficial allegory.

But at least the main party dynamic is still interesting, right? Wrong: they add a NEW main party member which is exceptionally capable in battle, exceptionally intelligent and cunning, exceptionally charismatic and also exceptionally kind and soulful. Completely undermines the whole running theme of everyone having to learn they have to rely on others because we all have our individual weaknesses and blind spots ... not the new character though, they're just there for everyone else to constantly remark about how amazing and inspiring and wise and kind and strong and charismatic and perfect they are. Which is made so much worse by the new member being the perspective character for a large part of the arc. Which is a shame because the story does manage to handle another "perfect" character really well when it comes to a certain recurring side-character witch.

And if you power through that arc you get to the next one which reveals to us the protagonists plans and motivations which completely ruins his character and turns him into an absolute joke ...

Because the series started off so well I powered through two bad arcs and I regret it, it didn't get good again afterwards and I wish I would have just dropped the whole series sooner.

I have no idea what's wrong here, but I honestly couldn't connect to any characters.
It feels like a textbook adaptation of web novel with no soul.

Want an isekai that doesn't treat it's readers as idiots? Look no further.

For an Isekai, it's pretty decent.

We are at a point where you can't even call "Isekai" a cliche, but a "genre" at this point, but everything considered this work is relatively entertaining. The story is pretty simple, 3 high school students, 2 girls and 1 boy are summoned to a fantasy world, where they are quickly explained the rules by an almighty being, and given "job classes" using a random roulette, the girls end being a Magician and a Warrior which are pretty decent starting classes, the protagonist on another hand ends up as one of the "rarer" classes, a Farmer...

From there on they need to solve each time-limited quest as best as they can without them all being wiped-out at the same time, otherwise they die in the real world. After successively finishing a quest, they're transported back to earth for a little while, then they're called back in to complete more quests with an added person, at the turn of an increased difficulty each time, rinse and repeat.

Also, most participants are not incredibly useful to accomplishing the task at hand, rising the tension in the group and drama issues begin to crop up, on the account that the "god" who brings them into this fantasy world purposely likes to call people with opposing worldviews, so you have a real mixed bag of very particular individuals, and as the series progresses and the cast naturally becomes larger, groups within the group begin to emerge.

Was great till the current arc.

Very interesting is what I would like to say, this isekai takes itself seriously, is uses logic to drive the story and makes sense for the most part. The story is that of a kid with some traumatic past we (as of yet) don't know of that left him apathetic and indifferent towards others, he's the kind of guy that weights pros and const and tries to decide things in the most effective way posible even when it might be in the grey zone in terms of morality, he's not an amoral character. The setting is that he and others are transported to an isekai they initially know nothing of to solve quests, kinda like Gantz but fantasy and less gore. After the quest is done they have some free time and get transported for another quest and each quest increases the participants by one. Also, this quest vary and can be of different kinds, from save a village to deliver something, kinda like a random guild quest which of course gets harder each time, it's not a death game type of story, thou it's not clear what happens if they don't clear the mission and more than that would be spoilers.

So story is not bad, chars are varied and say one secondary char increase per mission, so far (6th mission), other the MC, 1 is interesting, the popular through hard work type but with a heavy past, one is ok, thou annoying at times, and 2 are the kind you want to see the MC put them in their place, not because they bully or are lowlifes, the opposite, they are they kind that can't do anything but spout platitudes and get others in trouble because of childish ideals, and they don't learn. The MC on the other hand is great, cool headed to a point you could call him cold and insensitive, he doesn't give a sh*t about the others unless he has a reason to or can rationalize one, it's not completely clear, he can't stand the other two idealist BS but he doesn't say anything, he doesn't even care enough to try to change them and, it's not that he has no emotions, it's more like he kills them, there is something there blocking his path to a more normal life.
Also, art is good, fights are good too, dialogues are decent and the MC inner dialogues are quite good.

Unfortunately, it was going great till the drugs cartels arc, which is to put it simply, extremely boring and completely out of touch with the rest of the story so far. It's seems to be written by someone that has as deep understanding of the issue as having watched a marathon of Narcos, the author is out of his depth here. Also considering how manga works it'll be the longest arc so far (and I was right unfortunately), this arc has the about the same length as all the previous arcs combined and it ain't over yet (ch 44). This arc was so bad that I'm surprised the manga didn't get axed.

Edit: The mix of serious and heavy concepts and actions taken (like at the end of mission 5) with the characteristic immature idealism that Japanese often express in manga is really bizarre.
