Though it's got a good plot, nice idea, an...alright heroine...
-_- Ugh. Hikaru was just...TOO nice at the beginning. So nice it was bordering ridiculous- I felt more at ease with his character when things like jealousy showed up- the guy just seemed TOO perfect! Even when he 'commited' the seven sins he was committing them for good reasons (except for Envy and Pride). It was almost painful to read. Though I guess I was...okay with his character near the end, it was just pushing it to have him suddenly understand the situation and ...agh. Too nice and innocent.
The next problem, the seven deadly sins. *rubs her forehead* Ugh. Those girls are...impossible. One chapter they're all "Get rid of Hikaru-sama to get Lucifer-sama!" and the next they're "Nooooo! Hikaru-sama!!" with no REASONS, or INDICATIONS- it just comes out of nowhere. I mean, there could've been some bonding scenes with them and Hikaru but nooooooo- it seems almost all females in this story just love him at first sight. That WAS painful to read.
And, here's another thing, the artist fails male biology forever.
Sorry, I'm not usually this harsh on mangas but this just really annoyed me- It was a good idea, a REALLY good idea but...agh.
And for the love of Takahashi MUST there be yet another cliche arrow of love that's shaped like a toy?!?!? REALLY??!

I feel like I wasted two hours of my life.

DHA had a lot of potential, and while it does an admiral job nothing ever seems to be as quite as good as it could have been.

To start with, I found the main protagonist rather boring. This is probably by design as his very nature is to be the "pure innocent" who is tempted by demons, but I still think he's a little too generic and that the author could have done a little more. The same applies to the main heroine, as I find her fairly one dimensional as well. She has one defining feature in her love for the hero, but beyond that we really don't get to know her too much.

I did, however, like most of the 7 deadly sins, and wish more time could have been spent with them. As it is, we really only got little snippets of each (each one would have a chapter or two devoted to them), and it only served to whet my appetite as there looked to be a lot of interesting things there that could have been explored in a little more depth.

The story itself is fairly straightforward, with very few surprises along the way. I do feel that having the story compressed into two volumes meant a lot of the plot was sacrificed in the name of getting the full story in, and in this I really think if there were another two volumes or so it would have really given the story a chance to stretch its legs as it were. This really hits home when you get to the ending, which I thought was a rushed and confusing mess that really needed another chapter or two to tell properly.

The artwork is somewhat of a mixed bag. It's definitely seinen, but with a slight hint of that shoujo floweriness that gives it an interesting look. However, this is also a detriment when it comes to any sort of action sequence, as it just devolves into a confusing mess with little regard for how a scene should flow (again, I'm thinking particularly of the ending at this point).

All in all, DHA isn't a bad manga, it just had the potential to be a lot better than in ended up being. Another volume or two to tighten up the plot and also expand on the characters histories, and a bit more care when it came to the artwork would have done a world of good. Still, as long as you know what you're getting into you can still have a reasonably good time with this one, and it's short length means you won't be tied down for too long.

This one gets a recommendation, with reservations, from me.

Most likely shoujo

The protagonist is a girl, and the story tells us more about her thinking and desire. The drawing is also shoujo style, it's quite good and cute. But, I think boys would want to read it as well.
The seven apostles of hell has these names : Greed, Wrath, Envy, Lust, Glutonny, Sloth, Pride. Yep, those are sins mentioned in the bible. They are also used as names in popular manga, Full Metal Alchemist. Also, in the beginning of the chapter, it has a special page (white text on black background) that explains various things. May be the author imitates Death Note manga.
Although it's mentioned as ecchi... but it's so mild so far.
We don't know for sure since it's only one chapter.

Just one chapter scanlated as I write this.

When I took a look at this, I wondered whether it was shoujo, or could it be a shounen in disguise as one in order to appear more tasteful than My Balls. It's from the perspective of the girl, but the cover seemed to appeal to guys more. After reading the 1st chapter, I guess I'd have to declare that it's shoujo, because no pure shounen would waste so much time on that girl's frivolous inner dialogue, (so it must be appealing to girls who want to be able to identify). Yeah, I'd compare the narrative style to School Rumble--a goofy female protagonist. It could almost be shounen like School Rumble, too, but Shiratori is way too girly for that. Hmm, it's sort of like a magical girl manga: the protagonist is silly and goofy and clumsy in front of the boy she likes, who is typically gentle and pretty.

I'm intrigued by the introduction of the seven deadly sins, though--their character(s? not sure if I've seen more than 1) seem interesting. I was also interested in the fact that this is probably the first manga I've ever seen that shows it has some basic knowledge of the basic ideas of Christianity. The first chapter gave me a clear idea of the characters, and the art style as well, but it's not totally clear how this story will flow just from reading the first chapter. Seems like the seven deadly sins might be seven bishoujo all trying to "consummate" with Hikaru just like our protagonist (is trying). (Or, I could be totally wrong about that. I'm heavily speculating based on my impressions and the couple of plot elements that have appeared so far.)

Edit: And the ecchi's very mild so far.
