The "Kami-sama" anthology (ch 2-5) is a melancholic and yet beautiful romance drama with supernatural elements and gorgeous artwork.
From the theme, plot, characters, tone to the setting-all of them-were just to my liking.
Bonus point : the smut is really hot & sexy!

First story's progression was rather odd and confusing tbh; I feel like some details in the plot were glossed over a bit too much, which made the sudden development of events seem even more sudden and incomprehensible than they were and I suspect this is what threw a lot of people off. I didn't hate what I read but I certainly would've liked more clarity.

The Kami-sama series is definitely the highlight of this book. Characters are all pretty cute and likeable and I quite enjoyed reading about them for the most part. The mangaka's art style is great too and she has a surprising knack for drawing quite good smut haha.

Now the last oneshot with the uncle and his nephew was just plain weird lol. Even if they weren't related (which they are) their relationship still makes me uncomfortable af; I mean the fully grown adult uncle was brazenly sexually stimulating his nephew from when the latter was literally still a helpless middle school student who didn't know any better unlike his uncle and I'm just like?? There's obviously nothing romantic about that and you can't even find anything remotely funny there either. Idk man it just weirded me out and compensated me with no entertainment value in return. Really should've been left off the tankoubon imo.

Is this some kind of revenge from gay haters or sth? seems like it for me cause there's honestly nothing wrong with this manga. No rape, shota, rape=love or dullness, nothing of the sort. It's almost like a bunch of kids voted "5" because they didn't find here anything "fluuuuuuffy" or "cuuuuuuute". Storyline is unique in many ways. I saw many ghost stories but this one is really nice. The art is decent, it has a certain style, that may not be considered as "beautiful" for some people, but I didn't hate it at all.

About the plot - it's not typical, to the point it's memorable. It's deep, at times unpleasant but I don't mean the execution is bad, it's just that it's "mature" type of a story that deals with ugly side of humans, a story that force you to use your brain cells to get a grip of everything, to see what's hidden under the surface and also to understand complicated and sometimes ugly emotions all human beings sometimes have. Denial, grief, regret, stupidity - this work is full of unpleasant shit but the development is both amazing and unpredictable. And there's characters' growth. And specific sense of humour (I was grinning).

There are some flops, but they are small and definitely don't make this work average. It could have been more smooth I guess. Anyway as for me it was a nice surprise, I had fun. If you are unable to understand complicated feelings/you are delusional that adults always play fair in real life/you still believe in Santa - don't read this work, you won't like it.

The kami-sama character was really interesting and one of my favorites of this series. I also like how we saw a profession often not covered in bl: town workers/contractors. It was great seeing survey crews and the like.

The first story was a little weird and on the hardcore side, but it was kinda hot and I surprisingly enjoyed it (I don't really like voyeur stories). I didn't expect to like the last story since I really don't like older males taking advantage of younger teens (let's face it, that's what it was) but because the plot was so outlandish, it ended up being cute. I would have liked one more chapter on that couple so it doesn't seem so one-sided (it still looks like the uncle is only taking advantage of the teen in the end).

The first two chapters were not to my taste at all. I almost gave up. Too much focus on drama I didn't care for and dull characters. But the rest of the stories did a better job, especially the two last ones. I hope to read more stories from the island at some point!
